The 125' (38.1 m) Hargrave Gigi II will soon be making her way north to New England for the summer charter season. Because she was designed and built for entertaining she has guest seating for over 60 people in six different venues around the boat. Her 25' (7.62 m) beam permits four large ensuite staterooms with settees. When not in party mode her crew of five, including a chef, will pamper guests as she becomes a movable palatial summer cottage. With a boat load of water toys, she is fully-equipped for activities for family members of all ages.

Captain's Report
Powered by twin Cat C-32 ACERT 1825-hp engines, Gigi II's WOT speed depends significantly on her fuel load – her capacity is 8,000 gallons (30,283 L), which weighs about 57,000 lbs. (25,909 kgs.). Most people will obviously carry no more fuel than needed for their charter. At 10 knots, she burns 17 gallons per hour (64.6 lph) -- according to the folks at Hargrave.
Summer In New England
New England plus Nova Scotia make perhaps the most varied and interesting cruising grounds in North America. Not only is there the pristine beauty of Maine and Nova Scotia, but there are also yacht club cruises, regattas like the famous Bucket regattas in Newport and Nantucket, and the social scene in places such as Edgartown, Bar Harbor, Sag Harbor and other places.
Gigi II is available for charter by the week from early June into the fall in any of these locations or other places in New England.

Gigi II -- 125' Hargrave
We recently sat down with Herman Pundt (pronounced Punt) and he told us that the 125' (38.1 m) Gigi II will be soon traveling up the east coast from Ft. Lauderdale to Newport, R.I. to be positioned for the summer charter season. Dockage has been booked in advance at several tony marinas in the Northeast, something that is important for a yacht of this size.
Fully Prepared.
The yacht comes fully equipped for first-class charter work. With a crew of five, including the chef, a week aboard will certainly be carefree for a family. Kids will love the water toys (including 2 PWCs and a kayak) and with a 27’ tender, water skiing and wakeboarding are easily at hand. A first class DVD/TV/sound system runs throughout the boat so, late night diversions are available for all.
Gigi II is equipped with satellite TV and DirectTV receivers to keep the vessel in touch with the outside world. In virtually all respects the vessel is self-sufficient.
The Boat.
Gigi II is a demo yacht which is owned and maintained by the Hargrave organization. It was built in 2013 and has the latest equipment available. Because Hargrave has built so many large motoryachts over the years – all of them custom or semi-custom – the company knows what works and does not work in this class. As a result, Gigi II is not only expertly outfitted, but her design is also functional for the purposes intended.
With a fuel capacity of 8,000 gallons (30,283 L), she has over a 4,000 nautical mile range at 10 knots. This means she is easily trans-oceanic.
Equipment.
We have looked over her list of equipment and have found it to be state-of-the-art and provided by the industry’s most respected suppliers in virtually all cases. Most systems have redundancy including air conditioning, electrical generators, navigational devices, fuel filtering, and main propulsion. Where back-up systems are impractical, the highest-quality systems have been installed.

That's Entertainment
Clearly, Gigi II was created for those who like to entertain on a grand scale. Virtually every space is larger than expected. This is due to her 125' (38.1 m) LOA, but it is also because of her 25' (7.62 m) beam and a careful design that did not waste space -- something easy to do on a boat this big.
Remarkable Headroom.
All public spaces and staterooms have 7'8" (2.34 m) headroom, which is unusual in any size yacht. Not only is this important for any basketball players who might be aboard, but it also makes the interior spaces appear even larger than they are.
Let's inspect the entertaining venues --
Because she is so long, the details of this image are hard to see, but look closely and the designer's smart use of space becomes apparent. For example, in this drawing we call attention to the placement of stairways which often waste space -- but not in this vessel.
Salon and Dining Room
Salon.
The salon of Gigi II is huge by any standard. Note that her formal dining room table seats 10 people. Turned lengthwise and expanded it could be long enough to handle the board members of a good-sized public company. The salon seats 12 people comfortably with two electrically-adjustable cocktail tables.
Gigi II comes complete with top-grade china, silverware and crystal so that charter parties can throw dinner parties in a manner consistent with the venue.
An attractive partition separates the salon from the formal dining room. Note that passages on either side of the partition are wide. The adjacent windows present unlimited vistas. All furniture was custom-designed and custom made for this yacht.
The dining area has marble-top side boards both port and starboard for those who wish to set up buffet service. The étagère on the forward bulkhead holds stemware, the tasteful crown molding hides the air conditioning flume, and the space around the table permits unencumbered service during formal dinners.
Looking aft toward the entrance from the aft deck: At the aft entrance of the salon the decking is Cream Kaduna marble. On either side of the entrance foyer there are large squared corner cabinets that define and strengthen the salon entrance space.
On the starboard side of the entrance foyer is a squared counter that serves as the wet bar, complete with all the required storage, ice maker and sink -- and completely invisible when closed up. The port cabinet disguises the crew companionway on the outside of the vessel.
Looking forward in the salon, we note that the two long sofas and cocktail tables enhance the massive look of the space. The combination of contrasting surfaces of gloss in walnut wood, Espresso and Taupe Zebra veneer accents, sculptured glass and Cream Kaduna marble (Royal Oyster) creates an elegant, modern setting. Note that the gloss walnut bulkheads, crown moldings, soffits and valance treatments are matched in the furniture.
The dining table is made of walnut and Zebra wood. Sofa material is by JF Fabrics/Champion, the Roman shades are Globaltex/Fortuna-Mocha, and the cabinet push-pull hardware is Sagastune Satin Nickel.
Just off the dining area to starboard is access to the day head. It is appointed in the same walnut as the rest of the boat and has a marble counter and deck.
The wash basin in the day head is an attractive design that captures the style and elegance of the salon décor.
Royal Entryway and Swim Platform
Most guests will board Gigi II from her stern deck which is at once a mini-marina for visiting tenders and an easy step from a floating dock. The ss railings seen above are versatile and can be partially removed or completely removed depending on the activity. Note that the seven steps up to the aft deck have low risers for easy ascent.
Aft Deck and Bar
In this drawing of the aft deck there are two tables shown. Unseen here is a leaf that turns the table into "one" and a filler cushion on the seat between the two sections. There is seating for 12 people around the table at the transom, plus at least 4 more can sit at the fully-equipped bar on the fixed stools.. Note that there is plenty of deck space for people to easily move around during a cocktail party.
Most people will enter the boat by way of the aft deck and it makes a good first impression. With a teak deck and lots of open space and comfortable seating, this space will be used by guests one way or another all day long -- rain or shine.
Electrically-activated tables effortlessly move from cocktail party position up to dinner party height. Note that the overhead extends all the way back to the transom and out to the sides, creating shade and rain protection.
We like the tastefully-designed deck chairs which are comfortable and stylish just like the other furniture on board, most of which is custom made. When both the weather and location is right, this is a romantic place to have dinner at night by candle light.
The fixed stools with foot rests are something that is not often seen on the aft deck in class. The reason that this is possible on Gigi II is because there is so much space here. Note the sweeping staircase at right, which is both beautiful and secure due to the teak treads and high, double stainless steel railing.
The flying bridge of the 125-footer extends from forward of the mid point of the boat to the transom.
The Flying Bridge and Boat Deck
The flying bridge of Gigi II is largely covered by a fixed fiberglass hardtop that provides cover for those who want it on the bridge. Note the cameras on the roof pointing port and starboard and aft for both navigation and security.
This drawing of the flying bridge shows the layout in "cruise mode" -- with the boat's 17' (5.18 m) tender secured on the boat deck. For charter operations, this tender is eliminated and is replaced by a 27' (8.23 m) World Cat outboard-powered boat that is towed. This arrangement frees up the boat deck for sunning. With the boat deck cleared, there is a huge amount of space on Gigi II for a large cocktail party or to serve as a sight-seeing boat when underway on the flying bridge.
The boat deck on Gigi II is huge and with the tender launched this space seamlessly converts into a large uncluttered deck for other activities. Note that the hot tub has a small bar with two stools so guests out of the water can converse with those in it. We also like the L-shaped settee with an adjustable table which makes another gathering spot.
Guests have seven venues on the flying bridge, many of which can be seen here -- sun chaise loungers, the small dinette to the left of the hot tub, the hot tub itself, the sun pad which is in the shade in this picture, the banquettes amidships, or the bar opposite. Not seen are the seats facing forward at the helm.
Gigi II has sun decks both on the flying bridge and forward. For those who prefer shade, the aft deck below beckons.
This image does a good job of showing the size of the boat deck on the 125' Hargrave. To starboard is a cooking station that has 16 linear feet of preparation or buffet surface and under this are 2 Sub-Zero refrigerator drawers, a 30” ice cooler for beverages, electric grill, gas grill, utility sink and lots of storage.
The consoles hold an electric grill at left and a gas grill at right, for BBQ ribs, burgers, or better yet for grilling freshly caught fish. Below the counters at left are the Sub-Zero units and an ice maker.
Forward at the helm to starboard there is seating for the captain and one or two others. Opposite 2 to 3 more can sit facing forward. The double L-shaped seating on the flying bridge mirrors that on the aft deck, permitting 12 to sit for cocktails, lunch or dinner. The bar to starboard is fully equipped and can seat six people on stools.
Just as below the two tables amidships have powered pedestals so that they can easily be raised or lowered. Under the hardtop the deck is covered in natural teak.
The bar with six stools will likely be the most popular place on the boat. Most counter tops on the boat are granite or marble.
It takes a large boat to be able to properly handle a large hot tub. This can be one of the most popular places on the boat at night. Guests with small grandchildren aboard may want to lower the water level and use the tub during the day as a safe splash pool for tots.
For many people, ample shade is the name of the game when boating and Gigi II's hardtop -- one of the largest we have seen in class -- will give UV and rain protection to over a dozen guests.
The flying bridge bar is a serious affair with plenty of storage for all the needed libations and condiments. Drawer-type refrigerators/freezers can be seen at the end of the aisle.
Regular readers know that we like lots of forward facing seating at the helm and on the bridge deck. Here, in addition to the captain, two other people can sit to help keep an eye forward. To port is a similar seat for 2 to 3 more guests.
The Bow
The bow of the 125' Hargrave has high bulwarks that give guests a secure feeling when going forward. The yacht's hydraulic anchor windlass system is much preferred to the more standard electric windlass which is more prone to failure. There is a sunning pad/seat at left on the foredeck trunk, plus a lounging area forward that is unusual.
How is this for a fun place to relax and take the sun while the boat is underway or at anchor? It looks like fun to us.
Accommodations
The lower deck plan for Gigi II maximizes space in the two midships guest staterooms by eliminating the passageway that we often see running down the centerline of a large yacht. This yacht has a landing foyer from where guests disburse into their cabins.
Master Stateroom
The master stateroom is situated amidships in the most comfortable part of the vessel. Like nearly everything else in the boat, it is large. In addition to the "his" and "hers" bathrooms, note the his and hers large walk-in closets. By making the stateroom full-beam, the cabin has ample deck space for living and moving around quite comfortably.
There are so many details in this photo that it is hard to see them all at once: there is indirect lighting under the bed, a huge chest of drawers and large settee. Note the large, oval portlights both port and starboard that can be opened. (These also serve as emergency escape hatches.) Bulkhead upholstery is Legend/Elegance/Cream Majilite. Wool carpet covers the deck.
Here we see one for the rounded doors to one of the walk-in closets. The woodwork is all gloss walnut. Note the crown molding that contains the hidden air conditioning flumes. The center of the headboard is upholstered and ties into the detailed ceiling soffit that mimics and frames the bed. Flanking the headboard are 18” wide vertical panels of Zebra wood placed horizontally 60” high over each nightstand.
The master settee is large and could even sleep a grandchild in a pinch. The vents under the settee are air handler intakes.
We like the 12 wide drawers in this walnut chest with book-matched veneer facings.
This view of the master bath shows the his and hers arrangement with the large, multi-head shower in the centerline stall which can be accessed from either side. The decks are covered in marble as are the counter tops and back splashes. The toilets are outboard in each bath and have a frosted privacy glass panel. The marble theme is repeated again in here with Pearlato Suevo and Cream Kaduna with stainless inlays.
VIP Stateroom
The VIP stateroom is forward and has its own private entrance, a feature that we think many guests will appreciate. The king bed, which is raised on a platform two easy steps up, is flanked not by love seats as shown in this drawing, but by much-needed storage cabinets. Note the large hanging lockers, his and hers wash basins and a large two-person shower, much like the one in the owner's suite.
The walnut joiner work with Zebra wood accents design theme is continued in the guest cabins. The Roman shades are down in this photo for photography purposes, but when up they bathe the space in ambient light.
In the VIP head the wash basins are sunk beneath the dark-colored Emperador granite counter top. Note the shower fixture is the same as in the master. Not seen in this image is the light-colored Cream Kaduna marble deck with an inlayed border of the dark Emperadore stone.
Guest Staterooms
The two midships guest cabins in this drawing are nearly identical, the difference being the size of the shower stall. Note the large heads and hanging lockers. A telling dimension in all motoryachts of this type is the distance between the foot of the bed and the bulkhead opposite. Here we have over 2' (.6 m) of clearance, which is good. We particularly like the love seats.
In this guest stateroom, one king bed has been created. Bulkheads and trim continues the walnut theme seen elsewhere. The deck here is wool carpet. Both cabins have large hanging lockers. Note the L-shaped love seat in the back ground.
This stateroom has large twin beds in order to suit the guest arrangement. Otherwise they can be put together.

Country Kitchen/Galley
At left is the passageway forward to the galley from the dining area and salon. Like nearly everything else on the vessel, the galley is immense -- even for a 125-footer. The large island aids food prep and plating. Note that there are two sinks, one on the island and one to port which is a double. The dishwasher is just to the right as it should be.
Forward is the breakfast booth that has proved popular with Americans in large motoryachts for years. The stairway at the right leads to the VIP stateroom. There is a privacy door at the bottom landing.
Gigi II's galley has all of the modern appliances one might find in any well-equipped kitchen, including as much counter space as most.
Raised Pilothouse Helm
Raised pilothouse motoryachts have the advantage of getting the lower helm off the main deck to free-up space for other purposes as well as to create a helm that can be kept dark for night running without interrupting other activities aboard. The design also looks cool and is only found on larger motoryachts so there is some amount of prestige connected with the design.
On Gigi II, Hargrave's designers have created not only a state-of-the-art helm in its raised pilothouse, but it has also built in two large L-shaped settees with café tables so that guests can join the captain when running the boat from below. When the vessel is not underway, these two gathering spots provide yet another venue on board for private conversations.
Large port and starboard lounges are built into the pilothouse creating still more venues for people to roam around and sit during large cocktail parties. The stairs at left lead to the flying bridge. Note the navigator's table or captain's work station to port.
The Tender
When chartering Gigi II, a 27' (8.23 m) twin outboard-powered World Cat is included. This tender is stable and smooth riding and is equipped for watersports.
Two Yamaha PWCs also come as part of the charter package. Anyone who has not tried one is missing out on a thrilling watersport.
Available for charter or sale, the 125' Hargrave Gigi II can travel most anywhere in the world in luxury and comfort.
