The CXO300 is the most powerful diesel outboard ever built.Cox Powertrain has achieved United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Tier 3 emissions approval for commercial and recreational applications for its 300-hp CXO300 diesel outboard motor. The engine manufacturer said in a statement that it went through a “rigorous testing process” with the EPA for an OEM engine.

### **Lower Carbon Footprint**

From the start, one of Cox Powertrain’s goals with the new outboard was to exceed emission standards. “We developed a diesel engine with a much lower carbon footprint than an equivalent gasoline outboard,” Joel Reid, global sales director for Cox Powertrain said. “So far, those who have joined us on sea trials have commented favorably how quiet, smooth and clean the engine is.”

With its projected longer lifespan, the CXO300 could be a good candidate for commercial and military applications.Production of the CXO300 started in May at Cox’s headquarters in Shoreham-by-Sea in the United Kingdom and first outboards for the U.S. market are expected to be shipped in June.
