## Boat Inspection

Built and outfitted to withstand the rigors of inshore and offshore fishing, the SeaWell 345XL has another side too. She also provides amenities quite suitable for family outings including an overnight stay after a day out on the water or cruising to that special dock-and-dine spot and deciding to spend the night. Our review starts aft.

### Aft & Cockpit

With her fishing DNA firmly established once aboard, it’s easy to see all she has to offer. And with four power options to choose from, you will be able to get where you are going and back with plenty to spare.

![Seawell 345XL 2x300-hp Mercury Verado V8](/sites/default/files/Seawell-345XL-2x300-hp-Mercury-Verado-V8-9-16-24.png)

Our test boat was rigged with a pair of 300-hp Mercury V8 Verado outboards with a 7” VesselView screen and joystick. Other power options include 2 x 250-hp DTS V8 + 7” VesselView screen, 2 x 350-hp Verado V10 + 7” VesselView screen & joystick, or 2 x 400-hp Verado V10 + 7” VesselView screen & joystick ![Seawell 345XL boarding ladder](/sites/default/files/Seawell-345XL-ladder-9-16-24.png)

The four-step, telescoping boarding ladder neatly fits into the starboard aft platform. The fuel fill is located on this side with a freshwater fill to port. ![Seawell 345XL swim platform step down into cockpit](/sites/default/files/Seawell-345XL-swim-platofrm-9-16-24.png)

Boarding from the swim platform, there is a 6" step down into the cockpit. ![Seawell 345XL cockpit](/sites/default/files/Seawell-345XL-cockpit-9-16-24.png)

With more than 40 square feet of space, the cockpit offers plenty of fish-fighting room. To make it easy on your feet while getting around, Seawell uses EVA foam decking. ![Seawell 345XL transom bench](/sites/default/files/Seawell-345XL-transom-bench-9-16-24.png)

The transom bench offers comfortable seating while underway. It measures some six feet in length. ![Seawell 345XL 8 rod holders](/sites/default/files/Seawell-345XL-rod-holders-9-16-24.png)

One of the many fishing options offered are these 8 rod holders spaced out along the backside of the transom bench. ![Seawell 345XL bench seat](/sites/default/files/Seawell-345XL-bench-seat-9-16-24.png)

The top of the bench seat is easily opened revealing a baitwell and storage. That hinged cover below the seat houses the main battery switches. ![Seawell 345XL fish boxes](/sites/default/files/Seawell-345XL-fish-box-9-16-24.png)

Fully gasketed fish boxes are located in both port and starboard deck soles. ![Seawell 345XL teak table](/sites/default/files/Seawell-345XL-teak-table-9-16-24.png)

This teak table is an option and can come in handy during those relaxed time in the dock or while on the hook with the family. ![Seawell 345XL gunnels](/sites/default/files/Seawell-345XL-gunnels-9-16-24.png)

The wide gunnels have recessed trays which will come in handy for lures, hooks, and other fishing gear. ![Seawell 345XL swim ladder](/sites/default/files/Seawell-345XL-swim-ladder-9-16-24.png)

This stainless swim ladder easily stores inside the boarding door to port and just as effortlessly deploys in the open position. ![Seawell 345XL fresh water washdown](/sites/default/files/Seawell-345XL-fresh-water-washdown-9-16-24.png)

The fresh water washdown is also located here. ![Seawell 345XL console behind helm seats](/sites/default/files/Seawell-345XL-console-9-16-24.png)

This console, just behind the helm seats, has a sink, and a compartment, with a drain, that can be used as a cooler or for storage. Three additional storage compartments are located beneath. Note the wide walkways and the sturdy rails to either side which act as grabs as well as supports for the T-Top.### Helm & T-Top

The SeaWell 345XL paid special attention to these features aboard, ensuring they were supplied with all the right stuff.

![Seawell 345XL T-top with rod holders and lights](/sites/default/files/Seawell-345XL-t-top-rod-holders-lights-9-16-24.png)

With six additional rod holders to each side, spreader and top lights, speakers, and a robust and sturdy support and construction, her T-Top is a standout. ![Seawell 345XL optional light bar](/sites/default/files/Seawell-345XL-opt-light-bar-9-16-24.png)

Add the optional light bar and your nighttime docking approach will be totally illuminated. ![Seawell 345XL helm seats](/sites/default/files/Seawell-345XL-helm-seats-9-16-24.png)

The focal point of any center console is the helm and with its dual bolstered seats, this space is as good as it gets on a boat of this size. ![Seawell 345XL windscreen](/sites/default/files/Seawell-345XL-windscreen-9-16-24.png)

The large windscreen is unobstructed with any partitions and offers protection on those especially ‘nose-into-it days’. ![Seawell 345XL helm console](/sites/default/files/Seawell-345XL-helm-console-9-16-24.png)

The centerpiece of the helm console is a pair of 12" Simrad touchscreens. A Mercury gauge screen is flush-mounted just to the left of the tilt stainless steering wheel and all controls, including throttles, joystick, livewell, Fusion audio, trim tabs and bow thruster, are within easy reach. ![Seawell 345XL VHF and tactile buttons](/sites/default/files/Seawell-345XL-vhf-buttons-9-16-24.png)

As you can see, the VHF and tactile buttons are mounted just right.### Bow

Always an exciting place to be, whether working a fish or relaxing while underway, the appealing bow area aboard the SeaWell 345XL has been carefully planned out — as with everywhere on this boat.

![Seawell 345XL large sunpad](/sites/default/files/Seawell-345XL-sunpad-9-16-24.png)

The large sunpad offers a comfortable spot to enjoy the passing scenery. That cutout covers the hatch to the forward cabin. Note the wide 16” walkways to and from this spot as well as the deep well space, both for safety and comfort, as well as the additional bench seat forward with a storage compartment beneath. ![Seawell 345XL recessed side trays](/sites/default/files/Seawell-345XL-side-trays-9-16-24.png)

Those handy recessed side trays we saw in the cockpit have been included here as well and offer convenient storage for phones and other pocket items. ![Seawell 345XL speakers](/sites/default/files/Seawell-345XL-speakers-9-16-24.png)

For sounds underway, or while on the hook, these Fusion speakers are located to either side. ![Seawell 345XL anchor locker](/sites/default/files/Seawell-345XL-anchor-locker-9-16-24.png)

Fully forward is the anchor locker, a pair of pop up cleats and deck controls for the windlass.### Cabin

SeaWell made sure both cabins — that’s right, two cabins on a 35-foot center console boat — and the stand-up wet head on the 345XL were roomy enough for the planned overnight stay or an impromptu layover after a day out.

![Seawell 345XL V-berth](/sites/default/files/Seawell-345XL-v-berth-9-16-24.png)

The V-berth is large enough to catch a good night’s sleep or a quick nap. ![Seawell 345XL V-berth cabinet](/sites/default/files/Seawell-345XL-v-berth-cabinet-9-16-24.png)

Next to the V-berth is this cabinet with storage and counterspace. ![Seawell 345XL mid-berth](/sites/default/files/Seawell-345XL-mid-berth-9-16-24.png)

The mid-berth is located under the helm and for the weekend-traveling family, provides a great place for the kids. ![Seawell 345XL wet head](/sites/default/files/Seawell-345XL-wet-head-9-16-24.png)

The wet head, located to starboard between the mid-cabin and forepeak, has a private entry door, sink, electric toilet and shower fixture along with some storage space.## A Word About Performance

![Seawell 345XL performance on the water](/sites/default/files/Seawell-345XL-performance-9-16-24.png)

A pair of 300-hp Mercury V8 Verado outboards provided plenty of performance during our day out on the SeaWell 345XL.According to SeaWell’s data, the displacement of the 345XL without her engines came in at 7,716 lbs. (3,500 kg). Our test boat, rigged with a pair of 300-hp Mercury V8 Verado outboards and two people, 50% of her total fuel capacity of 250 gallons and a lot of optional equipment aboard, proved to be an outstanding performer at a total weight of 10,300 lbs. (4,672 kg).

Dealing with a negligible 5-knot wind, we put her through a series of turns, hard-over maneuvers and other aggressive drills, and out-of-the-hole and straight runs. During all those times, she handled everything with ease, answered the helm with confidence, and was always under control.

We topped out at 59.4 mph, turning 5600 rpm, and found our best cruise at 4000 rpm with a speed of 33.2 mph and a fuel burn of 1.4 mpg. Our zero-30 mph hole shot got there in 8.7 seconds.

## Summary

SeaWell has packed a lot into the 345XL’s LOA of 34' 5" (10.5 m) and beam of 11' 2" (3.4 m). With a pair of staterooms and a stand-up wet head with shower, she offers the kind of layout and amenities suitable for a family outing stretching over a weekend.

However, this center console has the heart of a horizon-chasing fishing platform, suitable for inshore and offshore adventures. An option of twin Mercury outboard power from 250 hp to 400 hp makes her a formidable competitor in this sector. Forty-plus square feet of cockpit space, her T-Top and deck bristling with rod holders and a helm outfitted with the latest in electronics will give those who take her out in search of big fish a definite leg up in their endeavors.

Should a center console in this size and offerings be up on your radar screen as your next choice of a new boat, the SeaWell 345XL will make your shortlist. Once aboard for a walk-through and after taking the wheel for your sea trial, that list is going to be somewhat shorter.
