## Brief Summary

The jet-powered Yamaha 190 FSH Sport is a boat that the whole family should enjoy. The design and layout with convertible seating fore and aft and uniquely innovative storage are advantageous for the multi-mission quality of the 190 FSH Sport. The fishing features allow family and friends to fish all morning, then in the afternoon play in the water off the transom deck and in the evening pull-up to the local sandbar and toast the sunset.

![Yamaha 190 FSH Sport profile](/sites/default/files/inline-images/yamaha_190fshsport_profile_2019.jpg)
The Yamaha 190 FSH Sport combines abundant fishing features with a performance and features that make it conducive for family fun.

![Yamaha 190 FSH Sport running](/sites/default/files/inline-images/yamaha_190fshsport_running2_2019.jpg)
The Yamaha 190 FSH Sport comes standard with a 1.8-liter high output jet drive and T-top.

## Mission

The Yamaha 190 FSH Sport is designed for fun on the water, family fishing, and just blasting around on the water with a boat that is nimble and sporty. Being a water jet powered vessel, it is safer for people to enjoy swimming and playing off the transom deck, and it is particularly appropriate for young children. We like to think of the 190 FSH as a utility boat, one that can be used for most anything and is low cost to both buy and operate.

## Overview

The center console Yamaha 190 FSH comes in three packages, the 190 FSH, the 190 FSH Deluxe, and the 190 FSH Sport. They are all multi-mission, multifaceted fun family center consoles with an emphasis on fishing.

**The Yamaha 190 FSH Sport** with the standard T-top with rocket launcher-style rod holders is the most angler-oriented of the three. The fishing features include an insulated fishbox forward, gunwale mounted rod holders, under the gunwale and console mounted rod storage, a storage pod for Plano tackle drawers, a 25-gallon (95 L) livewell, and even storage for a 5-gallon (19 L) bucket.

However, the 190 FSH Sport still is set up to offer owners the ability to explore all that is fun with a small boat. The stowable, removeable jump seat back rests and seat pads give passengers safe and comfortable seating on either side of the leaning post and the removable bow pad adds additional seating with grab handles on either side.

**The forward-facing console** seating lifts to reveal a space inside the console to change from wet suits to dry clothes when desired.

![Yamaha 190 FSH Sport over head](/sites/default/files/inline-images/yamaha_190fshsport_overhead_2019.jpg)
This overhead view of the Yamaha 190 FSH Sport shows how Yamaha carried the beam forward to create a larger forward casting platform.

## Major Features

- • **Jet Drive.** The 1.8-liter 4-stroke engine drives internally housed propellers. Water is pulled through and pushed out though nozzles in the stern, providing thrust. This eliminates the need for an exposed drivetrain with external propellers, making the 190 FSH Sport safer as well as plane quicker with less bow rise, out of the hole.
- • **T-Top with Rod Holders.** The T-top has an easily removable canvas cover with grommeted openings for rod tips for rods stowed in the console side rod holders. There are four rocket launcher-style rod holders mounted on the back of the tower and grab rails at the helm.
- • **4.3” Multifunction Display.** Connext®, Yamaha’s all-in-one touchscreen helm control system integrates the boat’s entertainment features, operation functions, and essential system information.
- • **No Wake Mode.** 3-position switch sets engine speed and maximizes jet thrust for No Wake zones.
- • **Cruise Control.** Yamaha’s Cruise Assist allows the operator to set the speed for cruising.
- • **Aerated Livewell.** There is a 25-gallon (95 L) aerated livewell under the starboard side jump seat.
- • **Insulated Fishbox.** The insulated fishbox is forward and has a removable cushion mounted on top.
- • **Storage.** The forward casting platform has storage below, the storage pods on either side of the forward casting platform, lockable storage inside the console, and a dedicated 5-gallon (19 L) bucket storage in the transom.
- • **Integrated Swim Platform.** The swim deck is built into the transom for easy water access. With the jet drive it is safer with no exposed drivetrain or propellers.
- • **Warranty.** Limited Lifetime Structural Warranty for Original Purchaser, 10 Year Limited Transferable Structural Warranty, 3 Year Limited Component Warranty. See your local Yamaha Marine dealer for details.

## Performance

![Yamaha 190 FSH Sport running](/sites/default/files/inline-images/yamaha_190fshsport_running3_2019.jpg)
The Yamaha 190 FSH Sport planes quickly with little bowrise. The jet drive allows for shallow water operation.

The Yamaha 190 FSH Sport has a length overall of 19’5” (5.92 m) and a beam of 8’2” (2.49 m). With an empty weight of 2,575 lbs. (1,168 kg), with 75% fuel and two people onboard, there was an estimated test weight of 3,175 lbs. (1,440 kg).

**Top Speed.** With a single 180-hp Yamaha 1.8-liter High Output engine turning the internal impeller jet drive, the test boat reached a top speed of 40.9 mph at 7400 rpm.

**Best Cruise.** The best cruise came in at 6000 rpm running at 28.1 mph. At that speed, the 6.8 gph fuel burn translates to 4.2 miles per gallon and a range of 150 statute miles while still holding back a 10% reserve of the boat’s 40-gallon (151 L) total fuel capacity.

### Acceleration Times and Conditions

![Yamaha 190 FSH Sport](/sites/default/files/inline-images/yamaha_190fshsport_acceleration_2019.jpg)

## Handling

![Yamaha 190 FSH Sport running](/sites/default/files/inline-images/yamaha_190fshsport_running4_2019.jpg)
The 190 FSH Sport has what Yamaha calls an Articulating Keel. This design extends the boat’s keel and moving in relation to the jet pump nozzles to provide directional stability and control while docking or maneuvering around other boats.

The Yamaha 190 Sport had a spirited ride and handled as one would expect for a boat of its size and weight. The 180-horsepower jet drive propulsion allowed the test boat to reach 30-miles per hour in just 7.2-seconds with a top speed of just over 40-miles per hour.

**Accelerating** from sitting still at full throttle the 190 FSH Sport had little bow rise. There was no chop during testing. However, driving the 190 FSH Sport through the photo boat’s wake at speed, the test boat handled it without any concern about loss of control or concern.

The relatively sharp bow entry helps give the boat a smoother than expected ride, given her 18-degree deadrise at the transom. The aft sections give her speed and greater fuel efficiency. Her articulating keel gives directional stability, positive turning, and makes her easier to handle around the dock.

## Features Inspection

![Yamaha 190 FSH Sport running](/sites/default/files/inline-images/yamaha_190fshsport_running5_2019.jpg)
The Yamaha 190 FSH Sport carries the beam to the bow on deck thanks to a slight pickle fork design.

### Bow

There is an unusual 4” (10.2 cm) pop-up cleat mounted on the point of the bow for securing the anchor rode – or a line to the beach. On the foredeck, there is a deep anchor locker with anchor retaining clips and a place for the anchor rode to come through when the anchor locker hatch is down.

**The forward casting platform** has deep storage beneath and an insulated, self-draining fishbox under a removable seat cushion. Yamaha built in grab handles on both sides of the cushion. There are two storage pods at the corners of the casting platform that are flush with the port and starboard coamings. They have rubberized non-skid on the top which make a good place to board from a floating dock. The port side storage pod has storage trays for Plano tackle boxes.

![Yamaha 190 FSH Sport anchor locker](/sites/default/files/inline-images/yamaha_190fshsport_anchorlocker_2019.jpg)
The anchor locker in the foredeck has rubberized non-skid on the hatch cover. Note the notch in the forward most edge of the hatch cover for the rode.

![Yamaha 190 FSH Sport anchor](/sites/default/files/inline-images/yamaha_190fshsport_anchor_2019.jpg)
The nine-pound, Danforth-style anchor is secured by retainer clips. Note the 4” (10.2 cm) pop-up cleat on the bow for securing the anchor rode, or beach mooring line.

![Yamaha 190 FSH Sport navigation lights](/sites/default/files/inline-images/yamaha_190fshsport_navlights_2019.jpg)
Navigation lights are molded into the deck cap on the port and starboard side.

![Yamaha 190 FSH Sport casting platform](/sites/default/files/inline-images/yamaha_190fshsport_castingplatform_2019.jpg)
The 190 FSH Sport’s forward casting platform has molded-in non-skid and a tow rail that is 4” (10.2 cm) high forward and transitions to 6” (15.2 cm) high at the storage pods.

![Yamaha 190 FSH Sport storage hatch](/sites/default/files/inline-images/yamaha_190fshsport_storagehatch_2019.jpg)
The storage hatch has a self-draining channel molded into the deck, and a rubber gasket in the lid, that together should help keep stored items from getting wet from rain or washdowns.

![Yamaha 190 FSH Sport storage](/sites/default/files/inline-images/yamaha_190fshsport_storage_2019.jpg)
The storage extends under the forward casting platform and on the starboard side it ranges through the storage pod.

![Yamaha 190 FSH Sport storage pod](/sites/default/files/inline-images/yamaha_190fshsport_storagepod_2019.jpg)
Inside the port side storage pod are trays and four Plano boxes for tackle storage. Note the 4” (10.2 cm) high coaming pads that are 22” (55.9 cm) above the deck.

**Coaming Pads.** Coaming pads are used as cushions for anglers’ thighs when fighting fish. The coaming pads on the Yamaha 190 FSH Sport are made from the same rubberized material as the rubberized non-skid utilized throughout the boat. This makes a particularly firm coaming pad.

![Yamaha 190 FSH Sport fish box](/sites/default/files/inline-images/yamaha_190fshsport_fishbox_2019.jpg)
The self-draining, insulated fishbox has a molded in channel to help keep unwanted rain or washdown from running into the basin. It also can be used to ice down beverages or for general storage.

![Yamaha 190 FSH Sport seat cushion](/sites/default/files/inline-images/yamaha_190fshsport_seatcushion_2019.jpg)
The 190 FSH Sport comes with a seat cushion that attaches to the fishbox lid. Note the grab handle (red arrow), there is one on each side.

![Yamaha 190 FSH Sport non skid](/sites/default/files/inline-images/yamaha_190fshsport_nonskid_2019.jpg)
With the rubberized non-skid applied on top, the storage pad provides a good way to board the 190 FSH Sport when entering from a floating dock.

### Console

The console has a forward-facing bench seat that lifts to reveal a changing area. There is room to have a Porta-Potti. On either side of the console is vertical rod storage for six rods, three on each side.

![Yamaha 190 FSH Sport bench seat](/sites/default/files/inline-images/yamaha_190fshsport_fwdbenchseat_2019.jpg)
The forward-facing bench seating on the Yamaha 190 FSH Sport will be a good place to sit in calm conditions.

![Yamaha 190 FSH Sport head room](/sites/default/files/inline-images/yamaha_190fshsport_changing_2019.jpg)
There is 4’5” (1.35 m) of headroom and enough space for most people to change, or the space can be used for additional storage.

![Yamaha 190 FSH Sport access](/sites/default/files/inline-images/yamaha_190fshsport_access_2019.jpg)
There is access to the helm electrical systems behind an easily removable screen.

![Yamaha 190 FSH Sport air vents](/sites/default/files/inline-images/yamaha_190fshsport_airvents_2019.jpg)
There are air vents, speakers, and courtesy lights (not seen) on each side of the console and a horn on the starboard side of the console.

**Vertical Rod Holders.** Many boat models of this size and mission have vertical rod holders mounted on the sides of the console. On the Yamaha 190 FSH Sport, they are particularly well executed. The rods racks have tool holders between the three rods and hook holders on the ends. There are grommeted pass-through holes in the T-top canvas above.

### Side Decks

There is 20” (50.8 cm) between the gunwale and the T-top stanchions, so passing forward is not too awkward for the portly. There are four rod holders, two on each side under the gunwales. There is also the hose connection for the Jet Wash raw water washdown system.

![Yamaha 190 FSH Sport rod holders](/sites/default/files/inline-images/yamaha_190fshsport_rodholders_2019.jpg)
Alongside the console under the gunwales are two horizontal rod holders on each side. Note the coaming pads transition from 22” (55.8 cm) above the deck.

![Yamaha 190 FSH Sport](/sites/default/files/inline-images/yamaha_190fshsport_washdown_2019.jpg)
The Jet Wash raw water washdown system draws pressurized water from the impellor on the propulsion system.

### Helm

The helm is logically laid out with room for a 9” (22.8 cm) multifunction display on the dash. On top of the console there is a small lip on its aft-most edge and rubberized non-skid, both are designed to keep incidentals in place. A larger lip or recessing the top would significantly improve holding incidentals in place.

**Steering is on the port side** of the helm with the engine controls in the center. The tray on the starboard side has rubberized non-skid and is self-draining. There are two stainless steel drink-holders mounted on the top.

**The acrylic windshield** is removable and the stainless steel steering wheel is mounted on a multi-position, tilt base.

![Yamaha 190 FSH Sport helm](/sites/default/files/inline-images/yamaha_190fshsport_helm_2019.jpg)
The helm on the 190 FSH Sport is designed for an operator to port and a companion to ride alongside to starboard.

![Yamaha 190 FSH Sport helm control](/sites/default/files/inline-images/yamaha_190fshsport_helmcontrolsystem_2019.jpg)
On the port side, directly in front of the steering wheel is the 4.3” Connext helm control system touchscreen, a flush mounted analog compass and the system rocker switches.

![Yamaha 190 FSH Sport engine ignition](/sites/default/files/inline-images/yamaha_190fshsport_engineignition_2019.jpg)
On the port side of the steering is the engine ignition switch and the safety lanyard.

![Yamaha 190 FSH Sport binnacle](/sites/default/files/inline-images/yamaha_190fshsport_binnacle_2019.jpg)
Alongside of the engine control binnacle are the bilge pump, livewell pump, and aerator switches. Below are the Jet Wash switch and the No Wake Mode and Cruise Assist switch.

![Yamaha 190 FSH Sport glove box](/sites/default/files/inline-images/yamaha_190fshsport_glovebox_2019.jpg)
The glovebox storage is lockable. There is open storage on the starboard side with USB and 12-volt outlets. Note the grab rail, self-draining tray, and stereo control above.

![Yamaha 190 FSH Sport non skid](/sites/default/files/inline-images/yamaha_190fshsport_nonskiddeck_2019.jpg)
There is branded rubberized non-skid on the deck and a footrest built into the console.

![Yamaha 190 FSH Sport helm seat](/sites/default/files/inline-images/yamaha_190fshsport_helmseat_2019.jpg)
The helm seat leaning post on the 190 FSH Sport is mounted on the engine cover. Note the cooler under the leaning post. This position is the most comfortable on the boat because it is so far aft.

![Yamaha 190 FSH Sport leaning post](/sites/default/files/inline-images/yamaha_190fshsport_leaningpost_2019.jpg)
The 32” (81.3 cm) wide leaning post has a flip-flop back. Shown here in the aft-facing position when at anchor.

### T-Top

The T-top is what separates the 190 FSH Sport and the 190 FSH Deluxe. The frame is welded metal with powder coating. There are built in grabrails, four rocket-launcher style rod holders, and the navigation one-light mounted on the aft-most top of the frame. The canvas is easily removable from the T-top frame.

![Yamaha 190 FSH Sport rocket launchers](/sites/default/files/inline-images/yamaha_190fshsport_rocketlaunchers_2019.jpg)
Four rocket-launcher style rod holders are mounted on the upper frame along with the navigational one-light.

![Yamaha 190 FSH Sport canvas](/sites/default/files/inline-images/yamaha_190fshsport_canvas_2019.jpg)
The canvas is removable for replacement or repair. Note the grommeted through holes for the rods in the console mounted rod holder storage rack.

![Yamaha 190 FSH Sport supports](/sites/default/files/inline-images/yamaha_190fshsport_supports_2019.jpg)
The supports are bolted to the deck and the console sides. Note the addition of grab rails on the aft most supports.

### The Stern

The stern has a raised deck that acts as an aft casting platform when the removable 20” (50.8 cm) wide jump seats are stowed. The jump seats flank the helm’s leaning post. Under the starboard jump seat is the 25-gallon (95 L) aerated livewell. Under the port jump seat is the dual battery system and additional storage. Engine access is under the leaning post which tilts up and back.

![Yamaha 190 FSH Sport aft casting platform](/sites/default/files/inline-images/yamaha_190fshsport_aftplatform_2019.jpg)
The aft casting platform on the 190 FSH Sport has room for two anglers to cast with the jump seats tucked away.

![Yamaha 190 FSH Sport jump seat](/sites/default/files/inline-images/yamaha_190fshsport_jumpseat_2019.jpg)
Shown is the port jump seat in place. Note the positive lock mount for the backrest in the coaming.

The 25-gallon (95 L) aerated livewell is located under the starboard jump seat. The hatch has a gas assist strut. The tray aft of the well is a good size for a small catch hand net. Note the gasket on the hatch cover to help prevent spillage.

Under the port side jump seat is the Yamaha 190 FSH Sport’s dual battery setup. The second battery is backup for a dead primary. Note there is additional storage.

The twin gas assist struts on the engine hatch under the leaning post make accessing the engine on the 190 FSH Sport easy. Note the hatch has sound dampening material on its underside.

The approach to day-check points on the 1.8-liter Yamaha high output engine is readily accessible.

### Transom

The transom has an integrated swim platform in the center of the watersports activities. The decks have molded in anti-skid and the upper deck offers upholstered backrests for sitting. Access to the jet drive cleanout ports and a 5-gallon (19 L) bucket with dedicated storage is under the upper deck. A telescoping re-boarding ladder is accessible from the water and Yamaha has included two grab handles to assist when re-boarding.

There are two stainless steel rod holders and four stainless steel drink-holders built into the transom. Note the 4” (10.2 cm) pop-up cleats. The two handholds to aid climbing out of the water are out of the trip zone – good thinking on Yamaha’s part.

Under the hatches in the upper deck on the transom is dedicated storage for a standard 5-gallon (19 L) bucket and access to the impeller and the impeller cleanout.

### Trailer

The Yamaha 190 FSH Sport is available with a standard single axle painted trailer with a swing-away tongue, disk brakes, lights, adjustable winch stand with strap and safety hook. The storage height on the trailer is to the console top, which is 6.8” (2.03 m).
