Captain's Report

Tiara 4100 Open Gets Horsepower BoostIf you’re in the market for a 40-plus express cruiser, and fishing as well as cruising is at the top of your priority list, then take a look at the 4100 Open for Tiara. It features new styling, traditional Tiara big boat toughness, new power options, and style combined with seaworthiness that is second to none. With its 43’6” length overall and its solid deep vee hull design, the Tiara 4100 Open is a statement in style and performance as it glides across open water. The express style hull coupled with the sloping sheer lines give the 4100 a head turning profile that is distinctive from other boats out on the water and highly regarded by knowledgeable boatsmen. At the bow there’s an integrated bow pulpit with roller and windlass for easy anchoring and security. There’s a large anchor locker forward for line or chain, and the entire foredeck is protected by high bow rails with non-skid walkways. The foredeck is large providing ample room to move about and the deck hatches are low in profile, high in quality, and induce light into the cabin interior. The windshield is well built and provides for good lines of sight while navigating. There’s even a windshield vent to keep things cool while underway. The integral hardtop affords great protection from the elements and adds to the seaworthiness of this craft. There are even ventilation hatches in the top to cool the bridge deck while underway. The helm features an electric helm seat that’s perfect for sitting or standing when operating the boat. The helm is well laid out with controls, gauges, and optional electronics being within easy view or reach. An additional feature that is highly commended is this set of back up manual controls. To port there’s an L-shaped lounge seat for guests and crew alike. Just aft of the helm is a convenient wet bar with sink and icemaker beneath and there’s a great cooler under the seat. An access hatch to the engine room in the sole is convenient for quick sight checks while underway. The cockpit features a huge removable fish box with macerator for all your catches, a livewell, floor storage or secondary livewell, tackle center, bait prep center , and freezer. There’s also a convertible rear bench seat for evening cruises, and a large transom door for easy access to the swim platform. The engine room is well laid out with all servicing and maintenance being performed easily and all components being accessible. The master berth is forward and placed diagonally for additional leg room and comfort with storage beneath. The head is full sized and features a vanity and shower stall. The salon seating is great for entertaining and it converts into an upper single and lower double berth when staying aboard. The galley is opposite the settee and features great storage and convenience when preparing food for a hungry crew or just snacks for some fellow boaters. Even the refrigerator/freezer is oversized. With a wide beam of 14’8” and a weight of 27,500 lbs the 4100 Open is a seaworthy cruiser that will take you to your destination in comfort and style. The additional hardtop provides great weather protection and can be the base of a second tower station . Even a full tuna tower is a compliment to this vessel. On our test runs we recorded a top speed of 34.3 mph with the pair of Cummins QSM 11 Series diesels. Best cruise was determined to be 25.7 mph turning 2000 rpm and burning 44.4 gph. Time to plane was a respectable 10.46 seconds and she reached 30 mph in under 20 seconds. With new refined styling, optional bigger engines, and Tiara’s reputation for producing quality boats, the 4100 Open is an excellent choice for those looking for a quality boat with versatility in the 40-plus express class. -- Capt.
