Dyna 63
Ready for Customization
Dyna focuses on building yachts to its clients’ specifications and the new 63 that was on display at the Miami Boat Show last week is a good example. Some customers have asked for the galley on the lower level, a third head or even enclosed the flying bridge. An owner can change the layout, the arrangement and even the equipment. Taking things a step further, Dyna will make suggestions and propose alternatives. More...
The Boston Whaler 420 Outrage 50th Anniversary package takes things up a notch when it comes to premium features and treatments. It starts with finishing the underside of the hardtop and the Mercury outboards to match the hullsides. The customization continues with upgrades to the Sea Gray exterior upholstery with textured ridges and stitching, a teak accent package and a black hardtop frame. The result is a boat that looks as good as she rides and of course, she’s still unsinkable. More...

When guests come aboard, there’s convertible cockpit seating and belowdecks, an owner can opt for three or four staterooms with two or three heads, respectively. The helm has companion seating, something Capt. Steve always likes. More...
Capt. Steve’s keen eye found plenty of interesting details on Four Winns’ new 23’11” (7.3 m) H4 bowrider when he looked at it during a recent boat show. She’s available with sterndrive or outboard power and one of the first features he noticed was her snub bow that’s a carefully designed mid-point between a Euro-style plumb bow and a traditional American raked one. Offshore Yachts’ new CE Series is a line of semi-custom cruising motoryachts that the company expects will have a broader market reach while maintaining the Offshore Yachts DNA of ride comfort, safety and reliability. The series consists of two models, the Explorer and Cruising in 65’ (19.81 m), 68’ (20.73 m) and 72’ (21.95 m) lengths, the latter being an Aft Cockpit version of the 65. They are built on a semi-custom basis as coastal cruisers and the three length choices are available in Explorer and Cruising models with a choice of Contemporary or Classic interior designs. More...
Stuffing boxes are victims of their own reliability. They carry on so well with so little attention that many boaters don’t even realize they need regularly scheduled maintenance — until they fail. Here’s how they work and how to make sure they keep operating properly. More...
Car navigation has never been so easy since the invention of GPS systems. Just feed in the zip code and the system knows where you are, where you want to go and it comes up with a suitable route. Why not do the same with our chartplotters? To start with, there is a considerable difference between navigating on land and navigating at sea. More...
Most new boaters will know enough to bring some lifejackets aboard, but there are some other basic items that every boat should have on board, regardless of the type or size. Click to learn more...
Regular inspections of a boat’s AC and DC electrical systems can prevent a number of issues, from inoperative electronics to fire. It doesn’t matter if it’s a single-outboard-powered center console or a flying bridge yacht with multiple helm stations. Here’s how to keep those hours on the water safer and electrically trouble-free. More...
There are theories as to why so many boats have traditionally had the helm on the right or starboard side. Some say that the location is based on the rules of the road and that a starboard-mounted helm makes it easier to keep an eye on vessels to our right that have right of way. Others say the reason is more mechanical and to find out what that is, click here...
