Bow rise is a troubling problem that many boats have, often because they were designed for 2-stroke engines, not 4-stroke. The result is unpleasant bow rise and slower holeshots. Suzuki has the solution: a gear ratio of 2.50:1 on two of its three 200-hp engines – the lowest gear ratio in the industry for that horsepower. For applications needing a higher gear ratio, the third Suzuki 200 has a 2.00:1 ratio, which is more conventional but still lower than most.
