The Ocean Eco 60 Coupé has 860 sq. ft. (80 sq. m) of solar panels.

Alva Yachts is building a coupé version of its Ocean Eco 60 solar-electric hybrid catamaran. Hull one has been sold to clients with a passion for diving and is scheduled for delivery by late 2023. The Ocean Eco 60 Coupé has a potential top speed of 20 knots, a bridge clearance of 21’4” (6.5 m) and a draught of (3’11”) 1.2 m. It shares the same hull as the Ocean Eco 60, with an overall length of 60’4” (18.4m) and a wide beam of 33’6” (10.2m).

“The new Ocean Eco 60 Coupé was created to supplement the existing family of 60ft yachts from Alva,” said Milan Henn, CEO and Head of Design at Alva Yachts, which he co-founded with Mathias May (Managing Director) in 2020.

Hull one of the Ocean Eco 60 Coupé could launch in late 2023.

“It offers a sportier, sleek exterior with a low-profile silhouette that cuts through the water. This new model is full of innovative new features and entertainment options and at 60’4” (18.4m), maximizes on everything.”

The roof features 860 sq. ft. (80 sq. m) of solar panels that give the yacht a potentially unlimited range, or the it can cruise efficiently for up to 2,800 miles on a single fill-up (264.16 gallons/1,000 litres) while using additional solar support.

In the full-electric variant, the Coupé is powered by two 250kW electric motors, connected to a 150-280kWh battery pack, which is powered by sun and generators. The solar panels reach 18kWp (kilowatt peak), two diesel generators produce 100kW/DC each, while fuel cells are also an option.

The sleek Coupé shares the same hull as the Ocean Eco 60.

The yacht offers almost 2,500 sq. ft. (230 sq. m) of internal and external deck space, starting from twin bathing platforms and an aft cockpit with C-shaped seating, dining table and chairs. The foredeck is reached by symmetrical side decks and a forward salon door, and features two L-shaped sofas, oversized sunbeds, ample storage, plus refrigeration and bimini options.

The interior has an aft galley to port with full size fridge-freezer and a large island counter with bar and stools, while opposite is a large dining table for eight. Forward to starboard is a twin-seat helm station accompanied by a large L-shaped seating area, which can also be arranged as an office. The saloon is to port and has a large sofa, coffee table and chairs.

On both sides, midship stairs lead to the lower deck, which is available in owner’s and charter versions. The owner layout includes a generous master suite in the starboard hull featuring an en-suite bathroom aft, window-facing double bed and a private study forward. For charter, the forward area is a fourth guest cabin.

In both the owner and charter layouts, the portside hull features two en suite guest cabins, one aft of the stairs with forward-facing twin beds and one forward with a window-facing double bed. The hull also accommodates a twin crew cabin with access from the aft cockpit and a single crew cabin in the forepeak.
