Amer F100 Superyacht Sinks Off Sardinian Coast

The 29.9m Yacht was Reportedly Delivered to its Latest Owner Days Before the Incident.

The 29.9m (98ft) Amer F100 superyacht MY Angiola (or Angiola II) sank off Sardinia near Capo Ferro on the Costa Smeralda on the evening of August 11. All 14 guests and crew aboard were safely rescued by other boats with no injuries reported.

Delivered by Permare shipyard in San Remo in 2020, the yacht is reportedly owned by an Italian businessman. Local media indicate a fire broke out in the engine room, causing the vessel to list heavily to starboard before sinking.

The yacht sank in approximately 7m (23ft) of water. No fuel leaks have been reported, but local coastguard authorities are monitoring the situation until salvage operations begin. An investigation has been launched.

The yacht was reportedly delivered to its latest owner days before the incident. The Amer F100 series, formerly the Amer Cento, accommodates 10 guests in five cabins plus up to five crew. Four engines provide a top speed of 26kt.

Barbara Amerio, co-CEO of Amer Yachts, said: “This is a used boat, launched in 2020 and sold several times since; the most recent sale, between private individuals, was handled by brokers outside the shipyard. We took care of the boat maintenance for as long as it remained under warranty."

“Like everyone else, we are relieved that passengers and crew are safe – and, like everyone else, we are awaiting official findings. The tanks are structural double-bottom tanks: if the boat is removed correctly, there will be no fuel leaks.”
