Vision Marine’s 180-hp Electric Outboard Motor Paired with an Aquasport 2100

The 2100 CC measures 20’11” (6.38 m) long with an 8’6” (2.59 m) beam. She’s rated for a maximum of 250 hp with a conventional gas outboard.

It is only a matter of when, not if, electric outboard motors will be the coin of the realm. One of the first builders in North America to pioneer the new concept is the Limestone Boat Company, which owns Aquasport. It is partnering with Vision Marine Technologies for electrically-powered offerings in the future. Vision Marine has completed a retrofit of an Aquasport 2100CC that the two companies hope to have ready for sea trials before the Miami International Boat Show in February.

Complete Package

VMT has integrated two 35kWh battery packs and the company’s E-Motion 180E electric outboard motor, providing proprietary rigging, an on board charging system and digital screens at the helm of the Aquasport 2100CC.

VMT has also partnered with Octillion Power Systems to develop a high-voltage 35 kW high-density battery exclusively for the recreational boating market. The company says the battery pack is smaller than that of a typical fuel tank, which makes it easier to fit into an existing compartment.

The E-Motion 180E is an electric outboard that makes a maximum of 180 hp.

“Vision Marine will have a highly efficient and unique product to utilize in conjunction with our E-Motion fully electronic powertrain,” said Alexandre Mongeon, co-founder and CEO of Vision Marine. Limestone wants to bring electrically-powered technology to recreational boating enthusiasts who want more performance, range and operating times that suit a coastal fishing and family cruising lifestyle.

Limestone said it plans to offer the E-Motion 180 on select Aquasport and Limestone models in the fourth quarter of 2022.
