Commercial Work Pays Off in Yacht Builds

CL Yachts' construction techniques are some of the most advanced in the industry because it does so much demanding commercial work under the Cheoy Lee name. Naturally, CL transfers techniques and materials proved to be advantageous to its yacht builds. For example, CL Yachts builds the CLB88 with a floating framework that isolates the hull with the support structure to reduce on board vibration and noise while maintaining RINA-certified performance. By integrating the tankage with the hull, CL Yachts builds rigidity into the boat, virtually creating a double-bottom boat. The laminate is applied with infused resin to ensure efficient distribution throughout. Advanced materials include closed-cell foam coring, carbon-fiber and composite-backed stonework. More...

Axopar 28 Cabin

Evolution of a Popular Model

Axopar is a Finnish company that builds its boats in Poland. The company burst onto the scene in 2014 with its first model, the 28. Since the first boat was introduced, company engineers have made subtle changes, adding 5.12” (13 cm) to the overall length, (1.97”) (5 cm) to the beam and 3.15” (8 cm) to the hullsides. Spray rails were softened and the keel shape was slightly rounded. Even the shape of the bow-thruster flanges was adjusted to improve hydrodynamics. To improve internal strength, the 28 Cabin gets the same stringers used in the company’s 37’ (11.28 m) models. More...

Volvo Penta’s Assisted Docking will be on every model from Absolute Yachts.

Absolute Yachts and its engine supplier Volvo Penta have partnered to offer customers the engine manufacturer’s Assisted Docking system on every Absolute model ranging from 47’ to 73’ (14.33 m to 22.25m). Designed to Multi-Task

An owner who buys the Mako 214 CC will want to venture farther offshore when the weather permits doing so in a 21’5” (6.53 m) center console. The boat has an 18-degree deadrise at the stern and a sharp entry at the bow. There are two strakes per side and aggressively reversed chines that should keep spray to a minimum. In a bit of an oxymoron, when a Yamaha WaveRunner is badged as a Limited model, expect the machine to be well equipped like the VX Limited HO. This 11’1” (3.37 m) craft is loaded with speakers that connect to a custom audio system with Bluetooth connectivity. They are matched to the hull and blend so seamlessly, one might hear them before he/she sees them. For watersports, the VX Limited HO comes with a color-matched tube with a bungee holder to keep it in place on the aft deck.
