Boat Registrations Jumped 44% in July

 

 

Boat registrations increased in July, rising 4.1% year-to-date in all categories and were up 25.2% year-over-year. Registrations jumped 44.3 percent compared to the same time last year in the main categories, according to an article that appeared yesterday on tradeonlytoday.com. The data was reported by Statistical Surveys Inc., which tracked data from 22 early-reporting states that account for about 43% of the U.S. market.

Registration of runabouts rose 67.7% year over year, but were still down 1.3 percent year-to-date, marking a reversal of a years-long trend of declines in that category. Ski and wake boats jumped 73% year-over-year for the month and were up 11.6 percent year to date. Pontoons also had a strong month, with a 53.3% increase in registrations year-over-year and 8.3% year to date.

For the first time in years, runabouts like this Chaparral 23 SSi have seen an increase in registrations.

Texas surpassed Florida as the top state for registrations, with 5,127 units registered in July versus, 3,947 in July 2019, which is about a 33% increase.
