Boston Boatworks Unveils BB52 Offshore Express Cruiser
An international partnership comprised of Boston Boatworks in the US, North American yacht designer Doug Zurn, and UK-based interior design firm Winch Design has come together to develop the new 17m (57ft) Boston Boatworks 52 Offshore Express Cruiser (BB52). Anticipated to be launched at the 2024 Miami International Boat Show (MIBS), the BB52 takes advantage of Boston Boatworks’ efficiencies as a limited-run manufacturer of series yachts, softening the boundaries between a production boat and a semi-custom project.
A spokeswoman for Winch Design told IBI that the new boat was initially being built on spec but that there are a number of prospective buyers for the craft. Depending on the level of interest, the BB52 could become the first in a series.
Prospective owners are able to choose from several options of interior configuration and finishes developed by Winch Design, addressing a wide range of functions and lifestyle needs. The offshore-capable day boat is fast and distinctive, with a flexible two-cabin interior that feels contemporary yet authentic.
The lightweight interior captures the spirit and colors of Nantucket, taking inspiration from the blue of the open waters and the orange glow of sunset cruising, across leather detailing, feature furniture and surfaces. Winch designed the space to be light and spacious, incorporating a multitude of elegant and intelligent features to enhance the lifestyle on board.
