Brunswick Unveils New AI Tech At CES in Las Vegas

The Brunswick Corporation debuted its ‘Boating Intelligence’ initiative at the 2025 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas held in January.  Brunswick’s exhibit had at its centerpiece a Boston Whaler 405 Conquest that was equipped with the new autonomous system. Essentially, the boat has eight pairs of cameras -- two on each side -- built into the fiberglass hardtop that feed what they are seeing into what must be an incredibly complex software system.

We were told that all an operator needs to do is tell the system where the boat should be docked in a marina and the software will take command of the boat and take the boat there. Perhaps even more amazing is that the system can be told on which side of an island the boat’s owner wants to go and what boat it wants to raft up with.

The arrows point to the twin lens cameras that are situated around the boat that will feed optical data into the system which is integrated with a Simrad MDS and radar to take navigation commands and execute them.

Once the autonomous system is engaged, it will navigate the boat there, being sure along the way to keep the boat off the rocks and avoid other boats, and even objects as small a profile as a swimmer in the water. By having eight pairs of “eyes” simulating eight humans strategically placed around the boat so that every pair overlaps with the cameras next to it, there is seamless sight around the boat. It is the ultimate lookout machine.

To demonstrate the concept, a 200-degree virtual boat helm simulator was available to give visitors a taste of what the new system will be able to do. See the video.

Be the First in Your Marina...

The folks at Brunswick said that the first boat to have the system operational and for sale will be a Boston Whaler 405 Conquest, which MarineMax will have for sale mid-summer.  (The dealership is taking orders, but at this time could not quote a price for the optional unit.) We were told that the system would be made available for all of the larger boats built by Brunswick brands – and will even be made available to competitive brands.
