Triton 18 TrX:

Equipped for Safer Operation

Powered by a 200-hp Mercury outboard in our tests, the Triton 18 TrX hit a top speed of 69.5 mph. Standard equipment includes the usual, like a trolling motor, a 31-gallon (117.34-L) livewell, a fishfinder and a trailer, but Triton stands out by also including the Hot Foot throttle and Pro Trim turn-signal style trim switch on the helm on the standards list. These are options on other boats and they make operation safer because the driver always has both hands on the steering wheel.

Everglades 435CC:

The Brilliance of Downsizing

The Everglades 435CC is designed for owners of large convertibles who want to downsize to a boat that still has similar fishing capabilities. With quad 425-hp Yamaha XTO Offshore outboards, in our tests, she hit 52.1 knots, which is faster than virtually any battlewagon. She’s also more fuel-efficient. We recorded .7 mpg at 3000 rpm, giving her a range of 344.6 nautical miles. Her cabin will accommodate a couple for a weekend getaway, but the important part is abaft the helm, where she has a 12’ (3.66 m) beam with ample space to fight the big ones.

Offshore-Capable Cruising Cat

The Leopard 53 Powercat is a cruising catamaran that can cover long distances in less-than-perfect conditions. We tested in 3’ (.9 m) to 5’ (1.52 m) seas and regardless of the wave direction, her sharp plumb bows cut through the water with ease. In our tests, her twin 370-hp Yanmar diesels pushed her to 22.5 knots and at a cruise speed of 2800 rpm, she ran 16.8 knots and had a range of 599 miles.
