Editor's Report

Catalina 315:

Easy-Sailing Yacht w/Important Features

catalina-315-090720.png

Catalina 315

Catalina’s 315 is part of the manufacturer’s 5 Series, which is known for having important features that improve the seaworthiness of the vessel, which are often not found in some other affordable boats in class. A watertight StrikeZone collision bulkhead forward and a SecureSocket mast support system, are two of these features. The DeepDefense rudder system delivers more reliable steering and the T-Beam MastStep structure combines the benefits of a deck-stepped mast and the increased strength of a keel-stepped version. Chaparral 267 SSX OB

The 267 SSX OB (formerly the 257 SSX OB) is the largest single-outboard-powered dayboat from Chaparral. She’s designed to consider the burgeoning demand for outboard-powered luxury dayboats and has some noteworthy features. Both the helm and companion seats swivel to let their occupants join the fun after arriving at a destination. The aft lounge also converts into multiple positions, which enhances the boat’s versatility. At the helm, twin Simrad multifunction displays are standard and a fold-down watersports tower is an available option. More...

MJM 35z:

New Downeast Dayboat Design

mjm-35z-090720.png

MJM 35z

With its first outboard-powered model, the 35z, MJM Yachts says it has followed the design approach of setting up the boat for the way she’s used 80% of the time — as a day boat for entertaining close to home. MJM has pioneered the concept of a Downeast-style day boat that maximizes utility for on-board picnics, cocktail parties, and sundown cruising. Her twin outboards create extra room in the cockpit to accommodate a large party. For a long weekend at an island anchorage, the forward cabin and galley provide everything needed. More...

Tahoe 2150 CC:

Equipped to Fish, Ski or Cruise

tahoe-2150cc-090720.png

The Tahoe 2150 CC can take a family of four fishing with ease.

When they outfit a “fish-and-ski” model, many boat manufacturers skimp on the fishing features. This was not the case with Tahoe’s 2150 CC, which is a basically a center-console deck boat and there’s a lot about this hybrid approach that makes sense. For fishing, the bow lounge cushions can be removed to create a large casting deck. Forward in the bow is a 16-gallon (64-L) aerated livewell and an owner can opt for a trolling motor. Insulated compartments in the foredeck are finished in blue and they drain overboard so they could be used to ice down the day’s catch and be cleaned out with minimal effort. The cockpit and swim platform also have space for anglers. More...
