The Cobalt R6

Cobalt Boats has added a new model to its R-Series of boats, the R6. The 25’9” (7.85 m) bowrider has a beam of 8’6” (2.59 m) and is available with twin-prop sterndrive packages from Volvo Penta or MerCruiser ranging from 300 to 430 hp. Features include a glass cockpit with dual Garmin 742 Plus multifunction displays, a transom-mounted camera and a built-in security locator function.

In the cockpit, the R6 has wraparound yacht-style seating and expanded storage for watersports gear and carry-ons. Upholstery is double-stitched and Cobalt is offering cool-to-touch Fresco Chil vinyl for darker colors. The company says the materials provides surface temperature reductions of up to 20 degrees on hot days. An optional table can be installed when it’s time for a snack.

On the stern, the boat has Cobalt’s patented swim step in the platform and the stern seating can be converted into a large sunpad. The R6 comes standard with a stainless-steel ski tow and a variety of folding arches are available.

The cockpit is laid out with functional, versatile seating and there’s easy passage through to the bow.

At the helm, the dash has the aforementioned MFDs,  and a depth sounder and temperature package. The audio system features six speakers and available premium and platinum options with tweeters, sub-woofers and mid-ranges are available. The captain does his job from a high-backed bucket seat that swivels and adjusts fore and aft.

The helm has dual Garmin screens and to the right, we see the optional cell-phone holder that has built-in charging.

Pass through the windshield to the bow and there are angled lounges with tall backrests and folding armrests. A filler cushion is an available option. A private head compartment in the port console includes a porta-potti.

With the bolster wrapping all the way around, the bow has myriad seating combinations.

Cobalt builds the R6 with composite coring in the deck and transom. The hull bottom is reinforced with Kevlar and the cockpit liner and stringers are all fiberglass. There’s no wood in the boat.
