Container Ship Freed in Chesapeake Bay

The 1,095’ (333.76 m) container ship, Ever Forward, that ran aground just north of the Chesapeake Bay Bridge on March 13 was freed on Easter Sunday. She was carrying 5,000 containers and late last week, the ship’s owner, Evergreen, had decided to start off-loading some of them to help lighten the load on the vessel. This eventually led to the ship being towed out of the mud. Our partners at Chesapeake Bay magazine got a firsthand look at Ever Forward before the off-loading started.
