Fluid Motion Will Continue to Operate Independently, Retaining its Brands and Team Members.

US boat builder Correct Craft has acquired Fluid Motion, the parent company of Ranger Tugs, Cutwater Boats, and Solara Boats. Fluid Motion will continue to operate independently, maintaining its brands, team members, and headquarters in Monroe, Washington.

Fluid Motion’s history dates back to 1958 with the founding of Ranger Fiberglass Boat Company in Kent, Washington. John, Jennifer, and David Livingston acquired the company in 1998 and developed it into Ranger Tugs, launching the R-25 tugboat in 2006. The company introduced Cutwater Boats in 2011 and added Solara Boats in 2022.

I am proud of the company and brands that our team has built,” said John Livingston of Fluid Motion. “The acquisition by Correct Craft provides significant opportunities for long-term growth while continuing to honor the legacy of Ranger Tugs, Cutwater and Solara. Most importantly, it provides additional security and opportunity for our employees, dealers, and the owners who trust us with their time on the water.”

Fluid Motion designs, engineers, and manufactures all vessels in-house across multiple facilities in Washington State. Ranger Tugs builds pocket cruisers ranging from 23ft-43ft, available with diesel inboard or gas outboard engines, featuring tugboat-inspired styling designed for extended cruising. Cutwater Boats makes fuel-efficient cruisers from 24ft-32ft that combine sport-boat performance with overnight accommodations, while Solara Boats offers trailerable sport, cruising, and fishing models equipped with premium standard features for day boating, fishing, and watersports.

We are excited to have Fluid Motion join us as part of the Correct Craft family,” said Zach Hutcheson, CEO of Correct Craft. “John and his team have built something special, and the culture and quality around Ranger Tugs, Cutwater and Solara fits naturally alongside our existing brands. We’re excited to continue providing their owners with exceptional products and experiences.

Correct Craft, founded over 100 years ago, is a Florida-based company with global operations. The acquisition adds Fluid Motion’s three brands to a portfolio that includes Nautique, Centurion, Supreme, Bass Cat, Yar-Craft, SeaArk, Parker, and Revel, along with marine engine and component manufacturers.
