Current Yachts Introduces Flat-Rate Yacht Brokerage Model
PRESS RELEASE
At the Annapolis Boat Show in October, Current Yachts formally launched with a mission to transform the yacht brokerage landscape by eliminating high commissions and prioritizing consumer value. The company’s patent-pending, service-based model replaces traditional 8–10% commission fees with transparent flat-rate pricing—while maintaining top-tier professional standards.
Alongside its official debut, Current Yachts introduced the beta version of a new seller platform designed to accelerate the listing process, enhance listing quality, and significantly improve the customer experience.
Current Yachts was co-founded by industry veterans Amanda Haley of Fort Lauderdale, FL, and Maryline Bossar of Annapolis, MD, together with technical co-founders Jeff Durso and Sean Walsh, experienced startup leaders known for scaling advanced technology solutions.
A Modern Solution to an Outdated Model
Current Yachts aims to address long-standing frustrations with the conventional, commission-heavy brokerage model. Its consumer-first approach reduces selling costs, increases transaction efficiency, and brings new transparency to every step of the process.
"The yacht industry has operated under the same outdated commission model for decades. It was about time we challenged it with a fresh take," said Amanda Haley, co-founder of Current Yachts and employing yacht broker for Current Yachts. "Not only are we offering professional brokerage services at a fraction of the cost,” Haley added, “we’re elevating the standard of our profession by giving our clients the most clarity, itemizing our services and explaining the co-brokerage dynamic."
A key differentiator in the Current Yachts model is the involvement of two specialized professionals in every transaction: a yacht broker and a dedicated transaction manager. “This approach will allow the broker to focus on the customer and their vessel sale or yacht search, while the support team will oversee the entire transaction,” explained Maryline Bossar, co-founder of Current Yachts and the marketing lead behind the project.
“We’ve surveyed hundreds of boaters and learned that the lack of urgency is a real concern to them. With our team approach, we expedite every step of the sale or purchase from qualification and showings, to trial runs and surveys, all the way to the settlement table.”
Bossar added, “The seamless communication tools we have built into our process are transforming the yacht sales experience. These tools will vastly improve accountability to yacht sellers and streamline the entire transaction from listing to closing.”
Key Advantages
- Transparent Flat-Rate Pricing: The traditional percentage-based commission is replaced with a predictable flat fee due at closing. Sellers can explore pricing through the Current Yachts Calculator.
- Professional Services Without Excessive Fees: Clients receive support from licensed yacht brokers, full transaction management, specialized industry guidance (including a vetted Marine Directory), and comprehensive marketing—without inflated commission costs.
- Flexible Buyer Commission Options: Sellers decide whether to offer co-brokerage commissions, potentially retaining more equity. Unrepresented buyers do not create additional seller expenses, contributing to a more efficient marketplace.
- Advanced Technology Integration: The platform streamlines the listing workflow—from vessel valuation through listing agreement signature and payment processing. Upcoming features include real-time listing performance analytics, inquiry and showing feedback, and integrated transaction management to keep buyers and sellers informed on every step.
