Dockmate DPS V2

The Dockmate DPS V2 is an advance in dynamic positioning systems, and the company says it is easy to retrofit and increases safety and ease of use. It has two modes:

OCEAN MODE:

The Ocean Mode holds position using only the engines—very useful for solo captains handling mooring lines, preparing for harbor entry or holding for a bridge to open. In Ocean Mode, the system detects wind and current direction, gradually aligning the boat’s stern against the greatest resistance.

It maintains this position by engaging engines in and out of gear. DPS engages only one engine at a time, ensuring smooth, controlled movements without sudden shifts. The accuracy of the DPS depends on several factors but should remain within one boat length.

PRECISION MODE:

In the Precision Mode, the DPS V2 works in harmony with engines and proportional thrusters (bow & stern thrusters or just a bow thruster) to maintain both position and heading in close quarters, offering peace of mind when precision matters most.

The system adjusts the thrusters proportionally to hold your vessel’s heading, while the engines engage smoothly in and out of gear—one at a time—to ensure steady, controlled movements without sudden shifts. If a movement is required while DPS is active, the system will automatically reset to the new position after just two seconds.

This feature slows the docking process, making it both easier and safer. The accuracy of the DPS depends on several factors but should remain within half of a boat length.

Dockmate can be controlled from the helm, or remotely via the Dockmate handheld control.

Price for the kit is around $17,500 USD, with installation not included.
