Formula 37 Performance Cruiser

The 37 Performance Cruiser has been a stalwart in the Formula line for years, and in this age of sheltering together, she makes a fine vessel for extended cruises, as well as weekending. An owner can choose among twin gasoline stern drives from MerCruiser or twin diesel stern drives or IPS pods from Volvo Penta. A buyer can save more than $100,000 on the retail price by choosing twin 380-hp MerCruiser Bravo Three sterndrives and just over $90,000 when selecting twin 430-hp versions compared to diesels. All the power options have joystick operation. The 37 PC comes with the amenities and attention to detail for which Formula is known. More...

Miami Opens Public Marinas

miami-1.png

It didn’t take long for boaters in South Florida to learn that ramps were reopened.

Miami-Dade Mayor Carlos Gimenez and a task force hosted a town hall meeting on Monday to announce a plan to reopen marinas and public ramps. They will be open daily from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. and there are new rules in place. Only one boat is allowed to launch at a time and vessels must remain 50’ (15.24 m) apart. This is a big step in the right direction for an area that has more recreational boats per capita than anywhere else in the country. Now the boaters must do their part and abide by the rules. Sailfish 290 CC:

58 MPH WOT w/2x Merc 300s

sailfish-290cc-042020.png

Sailfish 290 CC

With her flared bow and high freeboard (47.5”/120.6 cm at the bow and 37.5”/95.25 cm at the stern), the Sailfish 290 CC has a salty bluewater feel. She delivers a solid ride in a variety of conditions thanks to the builder’s VDS Hull Design. It starts as a 24-degree V between the keel pad and inner strake, the angle is 22 degrees where the bottom meets the hard chine, which creates stability when the hull is at rest. With twin 300-hp Mercury outboards pushing, the 30’6” (9.30 m) boat with a 9’ (2.74 m) beam planed in 4.1 seconds and ran to a top speed of 58 mph at 6200 rpm. More...

Simon, a 60-year-old British event organizer who has spent the last two years living at sea with his wife on their 40-foot catamaran, gives some important insight into what it takes to liveaboard in a pandemic. More...
