Formula 380 SSC

The Formula 380 Super Sport Crossover fills gap between the manufacturer’s 330/350 Crossover Bowriders and the larger 400/430 SSC and ASC models. The 380 SSC is available with outboard or stern drive power and continues Formula’s open-bow, full-cabin concept. For entertaining, the cockpit, helm deck and bow are all on the same level with connected SmartZone seating. The fiberglass hardtop has a full-width motorized glass sunroof. Belowdecks, there’s sleeping space for four plus a galley and enclosed head with private shower.

We are looking forward to testing the 380 SSC and her triple-command seating that has been transferred from the 430 and 400 SSC. Each seat bottom adjusts so passengers can choose to stand directly on the cockpit deck or sit and rest on the seat bottom cushion. Footrests that adjust to two positions can further customize the ride. The composite dash features a liquid black floating panel that showcases a Raymarine Axiom 12” multifunction displays. Owners can upgrade to twin Axiom 12” or 16” screens and the boat comes with Mercury’s VesselView engine monitors. Waterproof rocker switches for the accessories illuminate when activated and there’s a locking glove box. Whether owners choose twin Mercury stern drives or triple outboards, the engine manufacturer’s joystick piloting makes maneuvering easy.

In the cockpit, there’s a horseshoe-shaped lounge to starboard and a portside divan offer versatile seating around the Corian table that can also be lowered and filled in with cushions.

The Great Outdoors

To port, the outdoor kitchen has a Corian countertop, a molded fiberglass sink with an Elka faucet and a stainless-steel Isotherm pull-out refrigerator. There’s also a wastebasket plus plenty of storage, including a dedicated spot for a Cuisinart blender. Forward of the galley, there’s storage in the passageway to the bow where there’s 330-degree wraparound seating and two more Corian-topped tables. They are adjustable and can be filled in with cushions to create a protected sun pad. An available sunshade provides protection from harmful rays.

The summer kitchen has everything necessary to whip up lunch. The hatch over the sink tucks out of the way, so it can be removed and possibly lost.

At the other end of the 380 SSC, there’s a rear-facing lounge with individual backrests that adjust fore and aft. Beneath the lounge is a trunk for storing fenders. There’s easy access off the swim platform that is spacious regardless of the choice of power. If an owner goes with stern drive power, he can also opt for a platform that hydraulically lowers into the water. A platform entertainment table has six drink holders, dual multi-electronic stands and a recessed snack tray.

Luxurious Accommodations

Just to port of the starboard helm, a hatch leads to the 380 SSC’s cabin that has 6’5” of headroom. A U-shaped Ultraleather lounge can be set up with a high-gloss wood table or it can be lowered to convert the area to a berth. To starboard, the lower galley has a Corian counter and sink, an overhead microwave and even a Keurig coffee maker is an available option. A 32” LED/LCD TV provides the entertainment. To port are a large pull-out Isotherm stainless-steel refrigerator and an electronics pylon with a stereo remote and touch controls for lighting and climate.

Aft, the cabin has a privacy curtain with a queen berth with a memory foam mattress. The upholstered headboard has hideaway storage, two dual USB charging ports and owners can opt for a second 32” TV.

The aft cabin has a permanent queen-sized berth so no conversions are necessary.

The private head has a molded fiberglass sink with a Moen faucet, porcelain Vacuflush toilet and a shower.

From her SmartZone seating to her well-thought-out cabin and proven performance, the 380 SSC should prove to be yet another popular crossover from Formula boats.
