Hatteras Cup Sportfish Competition

Hatteras Cup

A world record catch for the heaviest Atlantic blue marlin will win the registered angler a one-million-dollar cash prize from Hatteras Yachts.

We’ve all heard those legendary fish stories – how the big one got away or how they fought for hours before being reeled in by our hero. Most of those stories are just that, stories. But if you can prove the story to be true, there is money and glory beyond the excitement of man against nature.

If fishing for big game fish truly floats your boat, you may want to consider doing it for cash AND the associated documented bragging rights. But time is running out.

Hatteras Yachts sponsors a fishing tournament with cash prizes known as the Hatteras Cup. This year’s competition started in May and runs through the end of the 2019 calendar year. But the big one could be caught at any time – registration is still open.

Did you know that the biggest Atlantic blue marlin are all females?  Female blue marlin can be four times the weight of males. Male Atlantic blue marlin rarely exceeds 300 lbs. (136 kg).  The International Game Fish Association all-tackle world record Atlantic blue marlin, which was caught off of Brazil in 1992 by Paulo Amorim, weighed in at a whopping 1,402 lbs. 2 ounces (636 kg).
