IYBA Launches Yachtr: A New Era for Yacht Brokerage
The International Yacht Brokers Association (IYBA), the world’s largest association for yacht brokers with over 2,000 members, has unveiled its new consumer-facing platform, Yachtr.com. This new site is a major step forward for the marine industry, providing a comprehensive database of yachts and boats of all sizes for buyers and a new listing option for brokers.
Developed over several years with support from industry associations and led by IYBA, Yachtr is powered by Yachtbroker.org. It offers a sleek and intuitive platform for potential buyers to browse verified listings of yachts and boats worldwide. Users can search by category, broker, or yacht manufacturer.
More Than Just Listings
Yachtr goes beyond just a marketplace. The "From The Bridge" blog features a wealth of educational content on topics like:
- What is a sea trial and why is it Important
- How to hire the right captain for your yacht
- Boat Insurance 101: Types of Coverage Every New Boat Owner Should Know
Users can subscribe to receive new articles directly in their inbox. For those looking to sell a vessel, the site connects them directly with professional brokers, which they can find by searching by name, city, or zip code.
Taking Control Back
Paul Flannery, Chief Operating Officer of IYBA, emphasized that Yachtr is a community-driven solution. "Yachtr is taking control from private enterprise solutions and putting it back in the hands of the community," Flannery stated. "We have heard concerns from our members, and we believe that Yachtr addresses and solves the challenges that current listing sites present. We want to provide a platform that is accessible to all, and inherently fair in its approach to displaying listings."
Flannery believes that giving the industry control over its data will help it "control their destiny and provide an enhanced consumer experience." He added, "Help us spread the word about a better way to buy and sell yachts where you’re always in control of your data.”
In its first 30 days, Yachtr saw a 25% increase in listings. The platform currently features over 14,000 listings from 285 yacht brokerages and continues to grow.
