Mercury Racing Expands Revolution 4 XP Propeller Line

The Revolution 4 XP is a popular stainless-steel propeller for stepped V-bottom boats.

Mercury Racing has expanded the pitch range of its Revolution 4 XP propeller series, adding a new base casting that will be used to produce the high-performance prop in a 15” (38.1 cm) diameter and pitches of 26” (66.04), 26.5” (67.31 cm), 27” (68.58 cm) and 27.5” (69.85 cm). The new casting will replace the current 14.63” (37.16 cm) diameter Rev 4 XP at 26” (66.04 cm) and 26.5” (67.31 cm) pitch sizes.

Faster Center Consoles

“The latest high-performance center console boats, paired with multiple Mercury Racing 400R and 450R outboards, are requiring a taller pitch propeller due to the speeds being achieved,” Nick Petersen, Mercury Racing performance propeller manager Nick Petersen said in a statement. “This new propeller offering will open the speed range for customers that prefer the design of the Rev 4. A boat that’s now out of rpm at 86 mph may be able to reach 90 mph without hitting the rev limiter.”

The Fountain 34 Sport Console is typical of the boats being run by performance enthusiasts these days.

The Revolution 4 XP is targeted at multi-engine stepped-bottom center consoles and single-engine bay boats. The propeller is designed to help lift stern-heavy boats because it’s longer barrel length design acts like a trim tab, providing stern lift for an improved angle of attack. Each blade has substantial tip cup for bow lift and good handling in turns and rough seas. In most applications, Mercury Racing says the Rev 4 XP produces more stern lift than the Bravo 1 FS and better top speed than the Enertia ECO XP propeller.
