The Miami Boat Show is Bigger and Better than Ever!

This year’s Miami International Boat Show will feature four venues as before, but this year three will all be on Miami Beach, and that means that the over-the-bridges traffic delays can be avoided when going from one venue to another. The fourth one – sailboats – will be at Sailor’s Cove at the IGY Yacht Haven Grande located on Jungle Island.

1. Motoryacht Collins Avenue Location

BoatTEST Advice: If your primary focus will be on large motoryachts, then stay in one of the hotels across the street from the Collins Ave. venue, and avoid the traffic.

Parking Note: Very limited valet parking is available at the hotels along Collins Avenue. Uber or Lyft are probably your best bets if staying elsewhere. See note below on the golf cart shuttle from the convention center.

2. Miami Beach Convention Center 

BoatTEST Advice: Nearby hotels can be expensive, but reasonably-priced (for showtime) are available for diligent shoppers and are within walking distance. Super cool visitors will want to stay at the “W” which has small rooms, but great lobby and pool ambiance. The Ritz-Carlton is within walking distance. The golf cart shuttle runs between the convention center and Collins Ave motoryachts.

Parking Note: CONVENTION CENTER GARAGE 1901 Convention Center Dr., Suitable for Oversized Vehicles. We advise getting their early – 8:30am -- as this lot will fill up fairly quickly. Once that lot is full, you’re in for a hike from other locations. If you are staying on the beach – which you should – Uber/Lyft will be your best bets.

Sharrow Props exhibit is located in the lobby of the convention center and is a “must stop” location to see this revolutionary prop design.

 3. Sailor’s Cove -- Everything Sailing in One Place

BoatTEST Advice: The convenient hotels along Biscayne Blvd. or Bayshore Drive, are close to “Sailor’s Cove” at the IGY Yacht Haven Grande marina on Jungle Island (formerly Watson Island). This parking lot may also be used as a “Park and Ride’ to the other boat show venues. Sailor’s Cove is reached by MacAuthur’s Causeway, which is notoriously slow during the boat show, so our advice is to start early. Getting Uber and Lyft pick-ups here is difficult when traffic is congested.

BoatTEST Advice: We’d save this little adventure until last because then you will want to know which of Nautical Venture’s many aqua toys are best for your new boat. It is a short walk from the Convention Center, and to your hotel if you’re staying in South Beach.
