Minnesota Adds Boating Businesses to Essential List

Minnesota Boating

Boat rentals and marinas are now considered essential in Minnesota.

State officials in Minnesota have updated the “critical sector” list during a stay-at-home order and this will allow employees at businesses that support recreational boating to go back to work.

According to bringmethenews.com, the updates to the executive order were made on Monday and several occupations that are now exempt are those that will prepare for the upcoming boating season.

Now Essential

Workers now considered essential include those that support the installation of docks, boat lifts and other water-related equipment and boat transportation and delivery. Also added to the critical sectors list are personnel who help with the operation of safe harbors, marinas, harbors and bait harvesting. Services to be provided include fuel, emergency dockage and sanitary pump-out stations.

Minnesota governor Tim Walz had previously said that boating and fishing seasons would move forward, but that boaters should only go out on boats with people from their immediate household to reduce the risk of spreading COVID-19.
