MJM Yachts Launches “She’s the Captain” Women’s Boating Program with USCG Licensed Captain Lauren Warren

WASHINGTON, NC – MAY 7, 2026 – Luxury performance boat builder MJM Yachts is proud to announce the official launch of the “She’s the Captain” program, which the builder developed in partnership with Capt. Lauren Warren, U.S. Coast Guard 100-ton licensed captain and owner of Upper Chesapeake Boat School in Chesapeake City, Md. Designed for women who are new to boating or looking to improve their boating skills, She’s the Captain classes will be offered free of charge exclusively through MJM Yachts dealers. Women who are interested can visit mjmyachts.com/shes-the-captain to find a class near them.

“Most boating courses today are only offered on-shore or online. Among the on-water courses that are available, few are taught by licensed captains and fewer still by female licensed captains. Capt. Warren has more than 20 years of experience and a relaxed, reassuring teaching style that earns her rave reviews. We are excited to partner with her and our dealers to offer She’s the Captain classes to women boaters, knowing it will help them build their confidence and increase their enjoyment at the helm,” said MJM Yachts President & CEO Natascia Hatch.

“I’m delighted to work with MJM to create a women-only classroom and on-the-water experience. Our goal is to create a comfortable, supportive environment where women can build confidence while learning the fundamentals of boating – including safety, emergency protocols, docking, and line handling,” Warren said.

The inaugural She’s the Captain classes will be offered at the following MJM dealerships. (Advanced registration is required.)

  • May 16 – Legasea Marine, Yorktown, Va.
  • May 30 – Jefferson Beach Yacht Sales, St. Clair Shores, Mich
  • May 31 – Jefferson Beach Yacht Sales, Holland, Mich.

A special session of the course also will be offered to customers who attend the MJM Experience Event scheduled for September 11-12 in New Bern, N.C.
