Cannes Yachting Festival
A Feast of Innovation
View of Le Vieux Port, one of two protected harbors that are part of the Cannes Yachting Festival, where the motoryachts were on display. The show ran from September 7-12.
This year’s Cannes Yachting Festival was a huge coming-out of COVID-19 party for the boating industry in Europe, plus a massive celebration of the best financial year that virtually all of the builders had experienced in decades. Other than the high spirits and bonhomie that swept the festival, the most notable aspect of the show was the large number of truly innovative motoryachts that made their European debuts. We think many of them point the way to the future direction of motoryacht design. Take a look at more than 30 yachts that caught our eyes for one reason or another. More...

Palm Beach 50 Fly
Bring on the Rough Stuff
In 4’ to 6’ (1.22 m to 1.83 m) seas at nearly full throttle, the Palm Beach 50 Fly sliced through the seas with confidence. Her 6-degree deadrise at the transom keeps her stable in myriad sea conditions, provides lift and speed and leaves a relatively flat wake. The 50 Fly is one of the best handling boats we’ve ever tested with Volvo Penta’s IPS propulsion system. The video must be seen. More...

Lighthouses of the Outer Banks
The Outer Banks of North Carolina are a string of barrier islands that jut out into the Atlantic Ocean and just beyond is the stretch of sea known as the Graveyard of the Atlantic. Lighthouses were built to help mariners navigate the dangerous passages. As time passed and modern navigation technology improved, many lighthouses no longer serve as navigation aids. They still stand as a reference to warn boaters to be vigilant. More...
