New 50 Cruiser from Burger Yachts
Burger Yachts has introduced the 50 Cruiser, which has been launched and is available for immediate sale. Her interior was designed by De Basto Designs in Miami while the bottom uses Vripack’s patented Slide Hull design.
Design Elements
The hull bottom design was developed by Vripack Naval Architects in the Netherlands and has been used on commercial vessels working in the North Sea. Burger also tank-tested the hull at. Wolfson Unit in the United Kingdom. Some notes from the testing include that its doesn’t dive into waves. Instead, it “cushions onto the water’s surface reducing pitching motion.” The designers also say her “voluminous fore body prevents breaching in a following sea.”
Reduced resistance leads to lower fuel consumption. Burger says that at 26 knots her resistance was cut down by 14% than a traditional planing hull. The manufacturer incorporates interceptors to eliminate the bow rise that’s typical on boats in class.
She’s powered by twin 600-hp Volvo Penta D8-IPS800s that come with joystick maneuvering and the engine builder’s Dynamic Positioning System. The Burger 50 Cruiser also has Volvo Penta’s Clear Wake System that directs exhaust gases above the water at idle to eliminate the gurgling sounds heard when the boat is at idle. Volvo Penta’s computerized interceptors include auto trim, list and coordinated turn features.
Cruising Features
Burger is installing the Seakeeper 6 on the 50 Cruiser as well as a Nautical Structures hydraulic swim platform. It provides a private beach and easier launching for tenders. When it’s lowered, stairs automatically fold out of the transom
For entertaining, Burger incorporates a bar with open counter space, a sink and a grill in the transom. Below is a large storage area and access to the ship’s power-cord retriever and freshwater connection.
For more involved meal preparation, the galley has a two-burner electric stove, a refrigerator/freezer, convection/microwave oven and a dishwasher. Opposite the galley is a horseshoe-shaped dinette. In the salon, those who enjoy sea air will appreciate the opening side windows and electric sunroof.
Belowdecks, the Burger 50 Cruiser has a full-beam owner’s stateroom aft. It has a queen berth, en suite head with shower and private lounge area. The guest cabin is in the bow and offers two berth configurations, a queen that converts to two singles. This stateroom also has an en suite head.
Other noteworthy equipment on board includes a Kohler 11kW generator, a combo washer/dryer, central vacuum, an ice maker and a shower on the swim platform.
