New Axopar 45: Finnish Builder’s Flagship
After previewing her at the Cannes Yachting Festival, Finland’s Axopar Boats has unveiled its new flagship, the Axopar 45. The company calls the new model the “pinnacle of Axopar pedigree and DNA.” She was designed with customer input and will be available in five configurations.
Axopar had planned to officially introduce the 45 at Boot Düsseldorf but the German show was canceled. She measures 44’11” (13.7 m) with a 13’9” (4.2 m) beam and draws 3’3” (1.0 m). Weight with triple 300-hp Mercury Verado outboards is estimated at 15,433 lbs. (7,000 kg) and she carries 317 gallons (1,200 liters) of fuel and up to 79 gallons (300 liters) of freshwater depending on the configuration. Top speed is estimated to be in excess of 57 mph.
Five Versions
Axopar uses a modular approach to design and manufacturing, which lets the company offer the new model in five different versions. The Spyder is wide open with no cover, while the T-Top adds a small fixed top over the helm area. The Sun Top has a larger hardtop with opening sections as does the Cross Top. Finally, the 45 XC Cross Cabin has full belowdecks accommodations with sliding doors that create private areas.
Regardless of the model, the 45 has Axopar’s signature blunt or ax-style bow that pierces waves and a twin-stepped bottom. The triple Mercury outboards have Active Trim and the Vessel View Mobile app. She comes standard with two 12” (30.48 cm) multifunction displays in a digital glass dash, a bow thruster and triple captains’ chairs at the helm.
Among the noteworthy features on the Axopar 45 are side-opening platforms at amidships that expand the cockpit space. On the XC Cross Cabin, there’s a center sofa with a wetbar and leaning post that can be adjusted. The aforementioned sliding doors can enclose the cockpit.
Her aft deck comes standard with an aft-facing lounge or the aft deck can be left open in the XC Cross Cabin model. An owner can choose the multi-storage compartment and sunlounge or the aft lounge with twin berths beneath a sunlounge. This can be upgraded with a small head compartment. Up front, there’s seating and a table in the bow. As we’ve seen on other models, the 45 has a freshwater sink beneath the forward lounge with space for an optional microwave oven.
Belowdecks, Axopar says there is standing headroom in the private head. The gullwing doors we’ve seen on other offerings from the builder are used on the 45 and all versions of the new model come with the forward cabin.
