Powered by twin 730-hp MAN engines, Beneteau’s Grand Trawler 62 is designed to maximize fuel efficiency and give the yacht the ability to cover 1,044 nautical miles at 9 knots. That’s a run from Chesapeake Bay to Bermuda, a trip up the inside passage in the Pacific Northwest or even Spain to Italy without refueling. Her flying bridge is one of the largest in class, covering more than 2/3 of the boat’s overall length. The standard layout is three cabins with three heads. More...

Sailfish’s 276 DC is a dual console with bluewater intentions. She’s designed with the same variable-degree deadrise V-bottom as Sailfish’s center-consoles and she has the cockpit and bow depth the manufacturer has built a reputation for providing. She has a slightly greater beam than others in class and displacement is also greater than most of her peers. We tested her with twin 150s, but we’d recommend twin 200s for an extra few miles per hour. More...

She has a versatile cockpit and user-friendly pilothouse that will let owners start the season earlier and extend it longer. She can sleep four and a couple could take a longer cruise with the private cabin in the bow and enclosed head.
Even an experienced boater might turn sheepish and uncertain when asked which setting his “1-2-All” battery switch should be on. More than likely, his answer will be, “I always leave it on All because it’s what someone told me to do it.” Owners of boats with at least two batteries and a switch can read on to gain the knowledge to answer the question with confidence. The U.S. Coast Guard takes a hard line when it comes to the specifications for the equipment it uses. It has specified Honda outboards for
two decades.

To better understand Honda’s outboards, early this spring we interviewed Jim Loftus, Director of Power and Marine Equipment/ Senior Manager Strategic Planning for Honda of America. He is an engineer who has spent 27 years working for Honda. This is the first in a series of four interviews and taken together, they give a well-rounded insight into Honda Marine's attributes and corporate culture. More...
