Three New Honda Outboards

Honda Motor Europe Ltd this week exhibited the world premiere of the all-new BF150, BF135 and BF115 large-size outboard engines at the Genoa International Boat Show 2021.

All three models feature Honda’s new ‘dynamic motion’ design, while usability has been improved through the adoption of an electronic remote-control Drive-by-wire system which gives smooth and secure shift operations and quick and accurate throttle operations, enabling the engines to support comfortable cruising.

We’ll be updating the Outboard Engines Buyer’s Guide with all of the specs on these new engines later this week. In the meantime, why not visit the guide and peruse the 207 outboard motors found there?

Nordhavn N51

Constructed For Her Mission

Nordhavn’s new N51 is being built at a Turkish yard and the company is taking the same heavy-duty approach as with its larger ocean-going yachts. She’s laminated with multiaxial fabrics and costly vinylester resin, which few builders use throughout the laminate. The hull bottom is solid fiberglass up to 12” (30.48 cm) above the waterline. Then Gurit, Airex or Diab foam core is used in the hullsides and deck. Approximately 7,000 lbs. (15,400 kg) of ballast is fiberglassed in place before the hull is bonded to the deck with urethane acrylate adhesive, two layers of fiberglass mat and woven roving followed by mechanical fasteners spaced every 6” (15.24 cm). Thru-bolts with backing nuts are used where they can be accessed. This build is as strong as it gets in class and this vessel is designed to go anywhere. More...
