The company says she was designed to be “the ultimate superyacht chase boat for long-distance excursions,” but we think she might be just the ticket for some exciting day-boating with friends around home. On the Sailfish 360 CC, the mezzanine seating on the aft side of the leaning post is an excellent example of the manufacturer’s ability to blend fishing functionality and cruising comfort. It provides a plush raised perch for three observers to watch the lines or relax at the sandbar. Pull down the center backrest and there’s a depthsounder/fish finder that the crew can see from the cockpit. For the construction of the 76 flying bridge motoryacht, Monte Carlo Yachts uses techniques from the aviation and aerospace industries to save weight and add strength. Fiberglass parts are made with resin-infusion and Kevlar, carbon-fiber, steel and aluminum are used for reinforcement. The 76 is built in three distinct modules, the deck, the hull and interior. What sets apart Monte Carlo is that the company finishes each module before final assembly. The result is a 75’8” (23.06 m) long boat that has an empty weight of 114,640 lbs. (51,999 kg). More...
About 12 years ago Bayliner quietly discontinued its line of Trophy center consoles. Back in those days, the country was under economic stress, no group more so than the Trophy buyer. We were sad to see it go because it filled an important need, even if limited at the time. During Trophy’s absence, no fewer than five low-cost CC brands emerged.
But now, Bayliner is quietly bringing back Trophy. No fanfare. Our guess is that the first units will be earmarked for the Freedom Boat Club, which along with Bayliner, is owned by Brunswick. Nevertheless, it is good to see the low-cost brand back. The base MSRP for the T24CC shown above is $62,900. We “built” a boat on their site, only adding the stainless steel hardware upgrade and a trailer, and she came out to $83,000. The Bertram 31 seen above, along with her sisterships, holds an important place in boating history. Designed by C. Raymond Hunt, the 30’ (9.1 m) Moppie was driven to a decisive victory in the 1960 Miami-Nassau Offshore Powerboat Race by Richard Bertram, who at the time was a championship sailor and yacht broker. This race proved Hunt’s
24-degree Deep-V constant deadrise design. Soon Bertram himself was building a 31' (9.4 m) Deep-V that was designed by a committee — we're told — made up of Hunt, Bertram and Carleton Mitchell (four-time winner of the Newport to Bermuda sailboat race).
