Leopard 53 Powercat:

Spacious Cruising Catamaran

leopard-53pc-051120.png

Leopard 53 Powercat

The Leopard 53 Powercat is designed to be the next level of the cruising power catamaran. She has a spacious flying bridge and the cockpit and salon are on the same level. When this design concept is combined with her 25’2” (7.67 m) beam, it creates one of the most spacious feeling boats in this size range, one of the many benefits of a catamaran. It should be noted that a 25’ beam (7.62 m) is not seen in a monohull design until an LOA of about 125’ (38.10 m). Belowdecks, she’s available with three or four staterooms. When she’s underway, the Leopard 53 Powercat has the superior range that cruisers expect from a power catamaran. More...

Evinrude E-TEC G2 150:

Fuel-Efficient Midsized Outboard

evinrude-150-051120.png

Evinrude E-TEC G2 150

Following the lead of the automobile industry, Evinrude has developed a 3-cylinder 150-hp, direct fuel-injection engine for greater fuel-efficiency. The Evinrude E-TEC G2 150 is the first three-cylinder 150-hp outboard motor ever built. With its power-to-weight ratio and advanced features usually reserved for larger outboards, it opens up a plethora of possibilities for owners of bass boats, multi-species models, pontoon boats, runabouts and more. Because it’s a two-stroke, the engine makes power on every revolution of the crankshaft instead of every two revolutions, as is necessary in a 4-stroke engine. That means more torque and more consistent power through the RPM curve. The Evinrude G2 outboards are the only ones in the industry under 350-hp with direct, in-the-cylinder fuel injection. Driver-centric features include power steering integrated into the midsection, fly-by-wire throttle and shift and the iTrim automatic trim system. More...

Triton 206 Allure:

Multi-Species Boat w/Family Options

triton-206-allure-051120.png

Triton 206 Allure

Triton’s 206 Allure is a fish-and-ski model that has a heavy inclination towards fishing with angling gear like a 30-gallon (114-L) aft livewell, a 10-gallon (38-L) baitwell and a Minn Kota trolling motor. For family time, her 6’8” (2.03 m) cockpit has enough space for four bucket seats plus the two folding rear jumpers so six passengers can travel behind the windshield when the boat is running her top speed of 59 mph. For added shade or to escape a shower, the 206 Allure can be equipped with an optional bimini top that is part of a package that also includes a screw-in tow pylon and cushions for the bow. More...

Boston Whaler 320 Vantage:

Advanced Seating Capabilities

bostonwhaler-320vantage-051120.png

Boston Whaler 320 Vantage

Boston Whaler wasn’t the first boat company to come up with convertible seating like the port-side cockpit lounge on its 320 Vantage, but the manufacturer sets itself apart with the execution of the product. The seat adjusts into at least six different positions and the hardware used to do it is all extra heavy-duty stainless steel. It operates so smoothly that a child can change the positions with minimal effort. Just ahead, the companion seat has individual foldup bolsters and can be raised or lowered with the push of a button. It also swivels just like the doublewide helm seat. More...

Missouri Boat Sales Surge in April

missouri-boat-sales.png

Big Thunder Marine has a record-breaking April after March had many area boaters worried.

Far from slowing boat sales and use, in many parts of the country we have received reports that boating is surging. One example is in the central Missouri boating hotspot Lake of the Ozarks. Here, dealers are reporting record highs in boat and fuel sales for the month of April. Many people from metropolitan Midwest areas like St. Louis and Kansas City have second homes on the lake and they have opted to stay there to escape COVID-19. One of the biggest dealerships in the area, Big Thunder Marine, reported a revenue increase of more than 30 percent compared to a year ago. More...

When a Life Jacket Comes in Handy

Life-Jacket-In-Water.jpg

Wearing a lifejacket can mean the difference between a rescue and a recovery.

It seemed like a good idea at the time – put on a life jacket and jump over the side of a 27’ (8.22 m) center console to clear the fouled props. Trouble was that the current separated boater from his vessel – which was offshore in the Atlantic, where currents can be strong, Happily, the occupants of the good Samaritan vessel, Go Searcher, saw the empty boat and the man in the water, and pulled him aboard in good condition. Once the man was rescued, he was transferred to a 45’ (13.72 m) Coast Guard boat which had responded to the distress call. “This is a perfect example of why you should wear a lifejacket,” said senior chief Nathan Webb, a command specialist at Coast Guard sector Jacksonville command center.

BoattestLEASING is now looking for late-model, premium boats from 26’ to 35’ (7.92 m to 10.66 m) to lease to like-minded boaters in the eastern U.S. Boat Leasing is now trending strongly, given the times we live in. Boats are a safe and healthy way for a family to have fun outside and at the same time maintain social distancing. By leasing unused days in a boat, owners are utilizing a valuable asset for a financial return on the investment. BoatTEST’s leasing program helps boat owners pay down their boat loan, as well as to cover a portion of annual operating costs.
