Monte Carlo Yachts 70:
Al Fresco Entertaining on a Grand Style
Most yachts these days take advantage of the bow space by adding an al fresco entertainment area, but few compare to that on the Monte Carlo Yachts 70. She has space up front for literally dozens of guests to party, kibitz or sun tan. The combination of high bulwarks from bow to stern along with the Portuguese bridge design make getting up front easy, even for guests who might still be finding their sea legs. The zone features two semi-circular settees behind solid teak tables, placed 3’ (.91 m) apart on electrically activated hi-lo pedestals so one or both can convert to a sun pad. A sunshade supported with carbon-fiber stanchions that fit into deck sockets is optional. There’s also lots more open-air entertainment space on the flying bridge, the swim platform and in the cockpit. More...

TAHOE 700:
Sporty Redesigned 21’ Bowrider
The 21’ (6.46 m) Tahoe 700 is a redesign of one of the company’s most popular bowriders, with 6” (15 cm) of additional length stretching her to 21’ LOA and the engine compartment moved farther aft. The result is more seating space, particularly up front. She’s also deeper than her predecessor, adding security for all aboard. With 40” (101.6 cm) of freeboard at the bow, she’s also safer and drier. The POWERGLIDE hull design has six strakes and reversed chines to provide very quick planing — just 3.2 seconds in our tests with the optional 300-hp MerCruiser, which will be an advantage in the water sports she welcomes. Top speed was 55.7 mph. A stereo with Bluetooth is standard, as is a tandem axle trailer and 250-hp MerCruiser Alpha One sterndrive, at a package price of $40,595. More...

Azimut Verve 40:
Dayboat on Steroids
Designers of the Azimut Verve 40 not only enhanced her profile with bold, modernistic styling but also added some inventive features to make her more comfortable and versatile. The aft-facing lounge directly behind the helm seats rides on a track so that it can slide aft and provide added seating at the cockpit table. When the seat is moved aft, a wine cooler in the back of the console seat base is revealed. The table can be lowered at the touch of a button to form the base of a large sun lounge. An optional SureShade retractable awning can provide shade here. The fold-down swim platform to port, another innovative feature, includes a retractable boarding ladder. More...

Robalo R272:
Offshore Trolling/Inshore Family Fun
The oversized hardtop on the Robalo R272 provides shade not only for the helm seating but also for those seated directly behind the leaning post in a fold-down aft-facing lounge. This seat will become the place to be for those watching trolled baits when fishing starts. The powder-coated aluminum frame for the top is integrated into the console rather than simply bolted to the deck, improving appearance as well as adding strength. The 9’6” (2.9 m) beam means there’s several inches more space to get past the console than aboard some in class. The three-pane windshield includes a top vent to provide ventilation and a wiper to get rid of spray. Up front, a filler panel converts the storage boxes to a casting deck, or add the cushions and it becomes a sun lounge. The filler can also convert to a table. Removable seatbacks create chaise lounges here. More...

Aquila 44:
Stability Offshore/Shoal Draft for Inshore
The Aquila 44 is a twin-diesel catamaran with three en suite cabins, a foldaway bar off the galley, and an oversized bridge-deck with wet bar. She’s equally at home on the ocean making extended crossings, casually meandering down the ICW or weekending with the family. Like all power cats, she’s very broad in the beam — 21'6" (6.56 m) in this case, equal to some monohulls yachts twice her length. The master stateroom, located forward and between the two hulls, includes an island-style bed with a memory foam mattress. Matched-grain high-gloss woodworking throughout adds a touch of class here and throughout the yacht. More...

How to Enter a Strange Harbor
Coming into a harbor from seaward can be much more challenging than when leaving.
Firstly, you have to find the entrance, which sounds easy when you have GPS as your guide but can be more difficult than you would expect. Harbor entrances are not always easy to pick out against the land, particularly if the sun is rising or setting behind the land. Find out tips for a pro. More...
