North Pacific Yachts 49 Euro Pilothouse

LRC w/Modern, Open Plan

North Pacific’s 49 Euro Pilothouse is the first in the company’s new Euro series. The idea behind the new line is to take all the features that make a great long-range trawler and combine them with upscale appliances and materials plus a more open plan to give the yacht a more contemporary feel. Part of the Euro designation is moving the galley to the main deck just inside the salon door. Another indicator is the use of lightly colored Wenge and Ash woods. Photos courtesy of Jim Raycroft. Formula 430 SSC

A Trend-Setter Vessel w/Features Galore

One of the major features is the bow in the Formula 430 Super Sport Crossover. It is entered by a port side walkway that leads to wraparound seating that is multi-functional and is remarkably large for this size boat. Once the windshield is closed on the entryway, the bow becomes a separate – and private – place on the boat to have cocktails, lunch or an uninterrupted tête-à-tête. With the table lowered with a touch of a button the whole area can be converted into a sun pad or lounging area. More...

Sailfish 276DC

A Family Boat That Can Head Offshore

With some of the highest freeboard in class, the Sailfish 276DC is better suited to a comfortable ride home after a day of fishing with the winds kicking up. Her cockpit depth is 38” (96.52 cm) forward and 30” (76.2 cm) aft, which is at least 2” (5.08 cm) more than most boats in class. Her variable deadrise bottom design helps smooth out the ride. She’s built with carbon fiber in the deck and Kevlar is used in critical areas of the hull for strength and rigidity, both of which also contribute to a smoother ride. More...

Tracker Pro Guide V-165 WT

New Windshield Offers More Protection

For the 2021 version of the Pro Guide V-165 WT, Tracker stepped up its game with a number of new items on the standard-equipment list. Perhaps the most noteworthy are the port and starboard acrylic consoles topped by the tempered-safety-glass windshield with a center walk-through section. It makes the boat more versatile and capable of keeping passengers safe and protected when the winds and waves kick up. Overall, she also has one of the most extensive standard-equipment lists in class. More...

A Video Man Overboard Story

Never Give Up Hope

Even the most experienced sailor can get caught by unexpected turns in the weather.

In the annual 333-mile sailboat race from Chicago to Mackinac Island in Michigan, all hands were called on deck as the wind kicked up to 40 knots and the steep, short seas for which Lake Michigan is notorious became a challenge to be reckoned with by the Meridien X and her crew.  Mark Wheeler, the tactician and navigator, was making his way aft to the helm station when the boat unexpectedly lurched. He was thrown overboard and quickly disappeared into the black night. More...

Amped Up and Affordable

Tohatsu is not a household brand name for most boaters. That’s because it rarely advertises and specializes in keeping its overhead low. But a boater looking to repower on a budget might want to consider the Tohatsu 200. It’s rated at 90 amps, which is the highest in class, and it has a 5-year factory-backed warranty.
