Nautor’s Swan, the legendary builder of racing and pleasure sailing boats, has introduced a powerboat, the 40’ (12.92 m ) Swan Shadow. Leonadro Ferragamo, president of the Finnish company said in a statement that the builder had been thinking about getting into powerboats for many years.
Sailing DNA
Nautor’s Swan’s designers said it was “essential to transfer the design DNA” of the company’s sailing yachts to the new powerboat line. One clever design element is the swim platform that folds out abaft the outboards. It creates a launch area for a variety of watersports as well as a safe environment because swimmers are well away from the propellers. Another key feature is the walkaround, flush deck.
The Swan Shadow also has telescoping roof pillars and moving panels that create a cabin. It’s part of the designer’s plan to be able to configure the Shadow in multiple layouts quickly. The interior styling is similar to Nautor’s Swan sailing yachts with a focus on simplicity and elegance.
Powered by triple outboards ranging from 675 to 1,050 total hp, the Swan Shadow has an estimated top speed of 63 mph.
