New Siren 3 Pro

Monitors Your Boat 24/7

Insurance companies say that 70% of boat sinkings are at the dock. Last year there were over 4,200 reported boat thefts. In both cases, they had one thing in common — the owner wasn't aboard.

This spring Siren Marine introduced its state-of-the-art Siren 3 Pro, a device that monitors on board activity and transmits what’s happening to the owner’s smart phone 24/7. Siren Marine has pioneered the concept of boat connectivity for the last 10 years and is the leader in the field. That’s why BoatTEST installed a Siren unit in its Club boat nearly two years ago and can report that it has performed flawlessly. It is now required equipment on all SBC boats.

The Siren 3 Pro monitors battery charge, bilge pump activity, GPS position and has bread-crumb tracking of boat movement, among many other capabilities, such as having both a high-water and intrusion alarm sent directly to the owners’ cell phones in real time. Alerts come by text and emails as well as on the free App. It can be hooked into the NMEA 2000 backbone and is CZone compatible for virtually complete remote control of that system’s switches. Controls are placed to the right of the wheel and joystick piloting is an available option. The frameless windscreen wraps around the helm and enhances the boat’s sporty lines. More...

Grand Banks 60:

Flying Bridge LRC for Entertaining

Those of us old enough to remember Grand Banks yachts during its first life know the last thing the builder had in mind was entertaining. That has all changed under its new management. A good example of that sea-change shift in functionality is the Grand Banks 60. She is a flying-bridge motoryacht intended for long-range cruising, but owners will certainly want to entertain guests close to home on occasion.

250-HP is Honda's Largest Outboard

Honda is the only outboard maker that stops at 250-hp, which leaves this brand out of the market for high-speed multi-engine applications, but does allow it to concentrate on the markets this engine was designed for – boats from about 23’ to 35’ (7.0 -10.6 m), in single and twin applications. Honda’s calling card is reliability over thousands of hours of use, which is why the USCG and many local marine patrol operations specify Honda power. Check out its specifications in our Outboard Engine’s Buyer’s Guide...
