Summit Motoryachts 54:
LRC Meets a Semi-Planing Hull
Summit’s vice president of yacht sales Tucker West (left) and designer Michael Peters (right).
When the team at Kadey-Krogen Yachts decided to build their first semi-planing hull ever — the Summit 54 — it turned to Michael Peters Yacht Design. For over 30 years, Peters has been the pre-eminent American master of planing and semi-planing hulls in cruisers in the 30’ to 60’ range built all over the world. Peters said the key to the design of the new model is that her bottom is “balanced at both ends of the boat.” He and his team arrived at a design compromise that provides efficiency and cuts through head seas but isn’t so flat at the stern that it picks up in a following sea. The Summit 54’s hard-chine bottom is 15 degrees of deadrise at the transom and she has a relatively sharp entry at the bow. The vessel’s public debut will be at the “Invitation-Only” Steelpointe Yacht & Charter Show in Bridgeport, CT on Sept. 24 to 27. More...

Fairline F//Line 33:
Sporty Yacht w/Helm to Match
The F//Line 33’s helm is simple, yet stylishly appropriate.
The Fairline F//Line 33 dayboat is the smallest boat in this British motoryacht builder’s line. The result is a fit-and-finish often not found in boats this size, plus luxurious amenities. Its helm is positioned slightly off center to starboard with a three-spoked steering wheel that has control buttons on each side, similar to a luxury automobile. Above the wheel is a multifunction display for full engine monitoring, including tachometers, oil pressure, temperature, alarms and a rudder position indicator. The Volvo Penta joystick is to the right above the digital shift/throttle controls. The doublewide helm seat has fold-up bolsters. More...

Alumacraft Trophy 205:
Fishing Focused w/Family Features
Alumacraft builds the Trophy 205 to be a multispecies aluminum fishing boat, but she has some elements that enhance her versatility. She can carry up to 2,350 lbs. (1,066 kgs) or 9 passengers and her 47” (1.2 m) interior depth makes her feel safer when younger kids are aboard. When the time comes to put away the fishing gear and have some fun on a board or tube, the flip-up aft jump seats make it easier to add passenger weight in the stern to increase the wake size. A Bimini top and full enclosure are also available options, so an overnight camping trip can be on the itinerary as well. More...
