Vicem Yachts Cruiser 67

Custom-Built Premium Motoryacht

Vicem Yachts custom-builds its Cruiser 67 at a yard in Turkey, combining old-world craftsmanship with state-of-art engineering. She’s the smallest boat in the company’s four-model cruiser series and has all the features of her larger siblings. She’s built to CE Category A standards and can be cold-molded if an owner chooses. She has one of the largest flying bridges in class and her main deck has inviting gathering areas. Below, she has three staterooms and the grandkids will love the crew quarters. More...

Hatteras GT45X Flybridge

Let the Big Dog Eat

If ever there was a boat that we would want to be on when the winds are gusting at 25 knots, it’s the Hatteras GT45X Flybridge. The conditions may have prevented us from getting reasonable performance numbers, but this bluewater convertible was more than up to the challenge of busting through the waves. Our captain reports that there was no pounding and it felt as if the whole boat was absorbing the waves. She took a more relaxed posture in beam seas and in following sea, where our test captain could push the sticks forward and let her eat. With twin 1,136-hp CAT C12.9s, Hatteras said the GT45X topped out at 40.8 knots with a full load of fuel. More...

Formula 240 Bowrider

Premium Boat w/Power Choices

The Formula 240 Bowrider is the only boat in class available with five sterndrive engine choices each from MerCruiser and Volvo Penta plus three from Ilmor Marine. Ilmor has won multiple Formula One and Indy Car championships so the company knows how to make power. It also has the smoothest shifting sterndrive we’ve ever tested, the Ilmor One drive, that uses hydraulics instead of a cone clutch. Maximum output is 430 hp and the top speed is estimated at 59 mph. An owner pays a premium for this boat, but with Formula Flex and polyurethane-painted graphics protected by a clear coat, he gets what he pays for. More...

Pre-Owned Yacht

1957 55’ Chris-Craft

At Last

At Last is a rare wooden Chris-Craft yacht that is in pristine condition. She’s powered by twin Detroit Diesel 6-71N inboards with only 275 hours on them. These engines were designed to be naturally aspirated, and as such put in reliable service for years with minimum maintenance and fuss. But in the 1970s and '80s, when sportfishermen wanted more speed, DDA started bolting on all sorts of hardware to increase horsepower out of the 71 block. The result was some of these hopped-up engines gave the 71 series a bad name because of the Rube Goldberg nature. But naturally aspirated, 6-71Ns should run forever. The fact that they only have 275 hours in them should be in the Guinness Book of Records. She has a partially enclosed flying bridge with a large aft deck. Below, she has three staterooms. Why Inverters are So Important

A boat without a generator is limited when it comes to powering electrical accessories. An inverter can change that because it takes DC power from a boat’s batteries and turns it into AC juice that can be used to power on board electronics and appliances. More...

Wally Why200

Wild and Outrageous, But Why Not?

The 398-sq.-ft. (36.9 sq. m.) master stateroom of the 88’8” (27.02 m) Wally Why200 fills the bow of this remarkably innovative motoryacht.

The Wally Why200 was awarded the "Best Avant-Garde Yacht" at the World Trophies 2021 gala on Saturday night at the Cannes Yachting Festival. Interior deck space measures 2,153 sq. ft. (200 sq. m) and the exteriors decks, virtually all of which can be used for entertaining, are 1,550 sq. ft. (144 sq. m). She is powered by quad 1,000-hp Volvo Penta D13 IPS systems, has external stabilizers and optional Seakeeper gyros. There are port and starboard side garages in the stern quarters that can house 13’ (3.96 m) tenders each. But all of this is just the tip of the iceberg. See this remarkable vessel in a video brought to you by BoatTEST. More...
