Boston Whaler 250 Dauntless

Refinements Improve Ride and Utility

The new 250 Dauntless from Boston Whaler replaces the 240 and has a keel-up redesign that focused on making the boat’s ride more comfortable in chop. She has a sharper entry to cut through waves and her flare is more pronounced to keep spray out of the cockpit. Her casting platforms are all on the same level and she has the features avid anglers want. Finally, she can seat up to 10 when it’s time to hang out with family and friends. More...

New Managed Maintenance System

Vessel Vanguard can be used to keep an eye on systems on large yachts as well as smaller vessels.

Vessel Vanguard, a subsidiary of Baxter Marine Group, has a remarkable boating equipment database including virtually every accessory manual, scheduled maintenance program, warranty document and much more on over 100,000 components used in all boats. It has taken many years to compile this information and it is the only such database in the world. Now, all of this important content can be accessed by boat owners so they know when to schedule maintenance for equipment, order parts or other services bundled in the system. This company has just released a new suite of products designed for all sizes of boats, both recreational and commercial – all to make it easy to manage maintenance. More...

Krogen Express 52

Rigged for Heavy-Duty Use

If a potential buyer wants to get a feel for the Krogen Express 52’s heavy-duty construction and rigging, he/she should check out the motor mounts. They are stainless-steel and cap the stringers in a horseshoe-shaped channel that runs the length of the bearer and extends down both sides before being bolted through it. The vibration-dampening mounts thru-bolt to raised stainless-steel feet to achieve the optimum shaft angle. There’s easy access to batteries outboard of the engines and each one is fed by dual fuel filters.

Bow Thruster Advantages

Single-screw boats can be difficult to dock without aid in wind or when fighting current. In fact, even twin outboards or twin sterndrives can be difficult in certain circumstances because their props are so close together. With a bow thruster, however, that helpful hand is a small propeller positioned forward on the boat and it applies side-to-side propulsion to get you safely docked. Some brave boat owners are willing to drill tunnels through the bows of their boats and install their own, but we don’t recommend that. When the task is performed properly by an expert installer, it’s worth the money for the captain’s sanity and the increased value of the boat. More...

Yamaha's New Electric Outboard Harmo

Harmo is available in single or twin installations.

Yamaha Marine has a new electric boat-control system that looks similar to an outboard above the water but has a major difference below the surface. It’s propelled by a rim drive with an impeller spinning inside an aluminum housing. It’s called Harmo, which is short for “harmony that exists between a vessel, its propulsion system, the passengers and the environment.” More...

Vinyl Boat Wraps the New Graphics Option

For a boat owner who wants to give his pride and joy a quick facelift, a vinyl wrap offers a quick, versatile solution. Vinyl wraps were first used in marine applications for racing teams who frequently changed sponsors. The technology has improved dramatically over the last 10 years and is gaining in popularity for pleasurecraft as well. Take a look at some examples and see how it’s done. More...

The Most Important Seat on Board

All SBC boats have enclosed electric-flush toilets. It is one of the many important details that separates our premium boats from the mass-market boat clubs. Affordable annual memberships in boats ranging from 27’ to 33’ (8.2 m to 10 m) are now available in St. Petersburg and Bradenton, Fla. Check them out at SovereignBoatClub.com or call 727-200-3474.
