The lineup includes two sizes of boats powered by Torqeedo electric outboards.

Longtime manufacturer of inflatable boats Zodiac today announced the release of a new line eOPEN inflatable boats with Torqeedo electric power.

“We have designed this range for today’s and tomorrow’s consumers,” said Fanny Revert-Ciavattini, product marketing manager for Zodiac, said in a statement. “Today’s pleasureboats are not accessible to all and have many obstacles: the long-term cost, maintenance, repair, ecological awareness, noise.”

Future-Oriented Approach

To respond to these concerns, Zodiac said it became important and urgent to develop boats that would be part of a future-oriented approach that focused on electric propulsion. There are two new models, the 3.1 and 3.4 and Zodiac says they offer no maintenance, no noise, need no service, create less pollution, are simple and responsive and are affordable.

“As the market leader in RIBs, we couldn’t afford to miss out,” said Revert-Ciavattini.

Depending on the model chosen, the new RIBs can seat up to six.

The new models have four to six seats depending on the size and have two lockers for stowing gear. Zodiac says the boats have 50 minutes of autonomy at an average speed of 12 knots.

“We are thrilled to partner with Zodiac on their eOPEN line of electric RIBS,” said Dr. Michael Rummel, managing director of Torqeedo GmbH.

Available options on the boats include EVA decking, a Bimini top, boarding ladder, Fusion stereo, a turboswing towing system and cover. The new models will be presented at the Cannes Yachting Festival from September 7-12.
