The NMMA Cancels 9 Boats Shows,

Sells 4, and Postpones 1

Miami International Boat Show at its Marine Stadium venue.

In a further sign of how COVID-19 is affecting the boating industry, yesterday the National Marine Manufacturers Association (NMMA) announced that it is canceling 9 of its annual boat shows, including Miami, New York, and Chicago. As can be seen in the photo above, cramming thousands of people on narrow docks, much less the same thing in narrow aisles at an indoor show, such as New York, can only lead to a very hot COVID spot. The NMMA is to be congratulated for setting aside its economic interests (boat show revenues fund a large part of the organization’s annual budget) to protect boaters and its builder members from the danger of COVID-19.
