Onyx Impulse A/M-33 All Clear

Inflatable Life Jacket

As we constantly say, make sure that all children 12 and under wear a PFD – and the best way to encourage them to keep it on is to buy them a light-weight, comfortable self-inflating jacket. And, mom and dad, why not set a good example? Everyone on a small boat should wear a PFD because that’s where the drownings occur. The Onyx Impulse A/M-33 All Clear Inflatable Life Jacket is designed to provide safety and comfort. The neck is lined with soft neoprene foam to reduce chafing and the zipper is mounted low on the jacket for a low-profile fit. It converts from automatic to manual-only and has multiple adjustment points. Prices for Onyx PFDs start as low as $62.05. Learn more...

Sea Ray Sundancer 370 Outboard

Ushering in a New Generation

With the 370 Sundancer Outboard, Sea Ray ushered in the future of the ’Dancer with a bold yacht that has coupe-like styling and outboard power. As can be seen here, she is an exciting watersports platform but her large, open cockpit makes entertaining fun. Below she sleeps 4 on overnight adventures. Hullside windows and a skylight infuse the salon with natural light. Three can sit forward in the bow cockpit when underway. She’s pre-rigged for a SeaKeeper stabilizer and features C-Zone digital switching to control on board systems. More...

Sea-Doo Fish Pro

                      Fishing Machine w/Trolling Speeds

In addition to the manufacturer’s Intelligent Throttle Control (iTC), Sea-Doo’s Fish Pro, the only personal watercraft designed expressly for fishing, has a trolling mode. It lets a rider control speed in half- and full-mph increments up to 9 mph. The operator presses the cruise-control button in forward and adjusts the speed by pressing the up or down arrows on the handlebar. It’s a level of precision that’s hard to match on any fishing boat. Among the more prominent fishing features on the machine are a Garmin EchoMap fishfinder/chartplotter. More...

Robalo R230

Equipped For Safer Operation

When powered by a 250-hp Yamaha outboard, the Robalo R230 hit a top speed of 52 mph in our tests. That’s more than respectable for the type and size of boat and one feature that we were pleased to see on the standard-equipment list was SeaStar hydraulic steering. It adds an element of control when returning from a day of fishing offshore and for towing tubes and other watersports when the fish aren’t biting. More...

Astondoa 66 Flybridge

Almost 360-Degree Salon Visibility

On its 66 Flybridge, Spanish builder Astondoa Yachts focused on making the yacht feel larger than her 66’5” (20.13 m) length. This is especially evident in the salon and galley where long, tall windows and furniture with slightly shorter backrests let in abundant natural light. We saw more of the same in the master stateroom where big hullside windows achieved the same effect. More...

Boating Tip

How to Fuel a Boat Safely

There’s more to safely filling a boat’s fuel tank than pulling up to a dock. Guidelines are different for filling up the tank on a boat with outboard, sterndrive or inboard power. Start by reading the operator’s manual. But if you can’t find it, we’ll tell you the tricks to avoid trouble.

Boat-Buying Advice

Advantages of Hydraulic Steering

Large boats come standard with hydraulic steering because the high torque of props and the power of the water against the rudder are forces hard to overcome.  But when buying small boats, particularly ones that are price-sensitive, consumers are often faced with hydraulic steering as an option. Here’s what you need to know. More...
