Oxe Marine is planning to release its 300-hp diesel outboard at a later date.

Oxe Marine AB’s diesel outboards will be manufactured in the United States starting in early 2021. The company is based in Sweden and has partnered with Outdoor Network Manufacturing for the production of its 125- to 200-hp outboards. The company’s largest model, a 300-hp outboard, is expected to be added at an undetermined later date.

To Be Determined

A production facility has yet to be chosen, but the company has reportedly narrowed its search to locations in Florida or Georgia.

“This transactions advances Oxe Marine’s leadership in the marine market while placing an extensive presence in the Americas and meeting its increasing demand for our product, especially in the U.S.,” Myron Mahendra, Oxe Marine CEO, said in a statement. “ONM brings a talented, experienced and customer-focused management team along with experience and when combined with our team at OXE clearly places our diesel outboard motors on the leader board.”

Oxe outboards have already been in use in commercial applications.

Oxe claims to have lower emissions than gasoline outboards. Unlike petroleum-burners, Oxe diesels use a belt-driven system that the company says is more durable than bevel gears to deliver the torque of the diesel to the propeller.

In the first quarter of 2020, Oxe Marine said that sales were affected by the COVID-19 crisis and that customers had requested deferral of orders. The company added, however, that its order book has increased by more than 30 percent. Much of that was attributed to the anticipated arrival of the Oxe 300-hp outboard.
