Polish Boat Builder Aims to Expand to the US
By Martin Frobisher
Cobrey Yachts, a Polish company known for its motorboats, is set to launch a new flagship model, the Cobrey 70, in 2026. The company is also planning to add hybrid propulsion options to its range and expand its market reach to the US, according to Cobrey's CEO, Bartek Kosicki.
Cobrey has been building yachts since 2004.
Kosicki shared that the introduction of the 70-foot model is part of the company's strategy to focus more on larger, luxury yachts. "We currently produce between 20 and 30 yachts each year, but we are increasingly focusing on larger models like our Cobrey 50 motorboat," he said.
Cobrey's production facility is located in Warsaw, where the company builds around 20-30 yachts annually. Their current lineup includes models such as the Cobrey 28 SCL Carbon, Cobrey 28 SC, Cobrey 33 HT, Cobrey 33 SC, Cobrey 42 Fly, Cobrey 42 HT, Cobrey 46 Performance, Cobrey 50 Fly, and Cobrey 52 HT. The Cobrey 70 will be added to this lineup in 2026.
Customization is Cobrey Yachts Speciality
Kosicki highlighted that Cobrey yachts are known for their high level of customization. "We offer our clients a wide range of options, including a number of wood and various upholstery choices. We even provide panels made with gold flakes, drawing inspiration from superyacht builders.
In addition to expanding its yacht offerings, Cobrey is also focused on growing its dealer network. "Europe remains our most important market, but we are actively working on entering new markets. Currently, we are establishing a presence in the US and are also considering expanding into Asia," Kosicki added.
Cobrey Yachts, like many other leading Polish builders, relies heavily on exports, which account for 90-95% of the industry’s annual production. Poland’s boat industry specializes in motorboats ranging from 20 to 80 feet in length.
Italian Designs
Cobrey collaborates with an Italian design studio for the development of its yachts and sources most of its engines from Volvo Penta. The company operates a shipyard in Warsaw, with a showroom and test center at Marina Yacht Park in Gdynia, on the Baltic coast.
Regarding future plans, Kosicki mentioned that while the company is content with its current shipyard capacity, it is always exploring new technologies for its yachts. "We are considering adding hybrid propulsion options to our yacht range," he concluded.
