PowerTime’s fleet includes models such as the Antares 23 from Beneteau.

In February, SailTime Group, a fractional sailboat membership group, announced the launch of PowerTime, a subscriber-based program that specializes in high-end powerboats and yachts. The new franchise was introduced at the Miami Boat Show with the opening of a new location in the Miami-Fort Lauderdale area.

A Growing Business

SailTime Group CEO Todd Hess said what will set apart PowerTime is the ability to offer a boat-sharing program for 30’ to 45’ (9.14 m to 13.72 m) boats that allow a client to overnight and spend a couple days aboard.

PowerTime offers members access to powerboats with fees starting at a few hundred dollars each month. The fee includes operating expenses including docking fees, insurance and routine maintenance. Members can schedule blocks of time online.

One benefit of fractional ownership is having a variety of boats available to a family.

Jim and Debbie Veiga own the PowerTime and SailTime south Florida locations. The first boat available on the power side is a Jeanneau Leader 10.5, while an Odyssey 349 is available for sail.

Launched nearly 20 years ago, SailTime has more than 30 franchisee-owned locations in North America, plus three in Western Europe and five in Australia. The monthly membership covers slip fees, maintenance, insurance and operating costs. The group also offers boat owners a member program that pays a monthly income for the use of his boat as well as professional management of the vessel.
