Cruisers Yachts 54 Fly:
Flybridge Yacht w/Strong Performance
We’ve discussed the benefits of adding a flying bridge to the Cruisers Yachts 54 Cantius to create the 54 Fly from an entertaining and utility standpoint, but what performance changes can one expect with one over the other? The 54 Fly weighs 51,475 lbs. (23,348.67 kg) compared to the 54 Cantius at 46,475 lbs. (21,080.71 kg). With the same power, the 54 Fly ran 36 knots at 2547 rpm, while the 54 Cantius ran 37.1 knots – not much of a speed trade-off, for a lot more utility. More...

Axopar 37 Sun-Top:
Bring on Offshore Adventure
The Axopar 37 Sun-Top has the highest CE certification possible in a boat shorter than 40’ (12.19 m), Category B Ocean. Based on our experience with the brand, that’s not a stretch at all. These boats are among the best handling we’ve seen when the going gets rough. Around the docks, the Side-Power SE60 bow thruster turns this offshore lion into a dockside pussycat. More...

Formula 270 Bowrider:
Premium Bowrider w/Quality Throughout
Formula is known for its luxurious strong-performing boats and the 270 Bowrider’s engine compartment reminds us that this company is run by a family that spends time on the water. When we pushed the button to raise the boat’s engine hatch, we saw the Ilmor Marine V-8 installed on racing-style L-angle mounts with through-bolted hardware. The compartment’s interior is finished in gelcoat and cockpit and storage drains lead overboard, not into the bilge. Batteries are properly secured with the terminals covered and all hoses are double clamped. There’s even an access port next to the top of the hydraulic ram that supports the hatch so it can be opened manually in the event of an electrical failure. She’s available with an Ilmor engine for an MSRP of $190,000 or for $184,000 with a standard MerCruiser 300-hp engine with dual props and drive-by-wire DTS. More...

Manitou 22 Aurora VP:
Designed for Sportier Handling
All pontoon boats may look the same above the water, but the Manitou 22 Aurora VP is definitely different below the waterline. The VP stands for Value Performance and is a derivative of the company’s patented, high-performance SHP design. The VP bottom has the 27” (65.58 cm) diameter center pontoon that extends 5” (12.7 cm) deeper than the outboard 23” (58.42 cm) pontoons. This creates a V-shape that lets the boat bank into turns, much like a monohull boat. Positive angle lifting strakes on both sides of the center pontoon create a chine that adds lift and stability.
